Honest question...if Denver offered him $350K a year do you think he would have taken the Maine job for $200K a year? Things have a strange way of working themselves out and I think that will be the case here. I like this better than Abbott having to pick one over the other.

So you're saying just hand the job to Corkum now that Montgomery is going to DU? They need to have a national search and stop with this interim head coach crap we've been down that road before and it didn't work out well. It's amazing how dysfunctional the athletic department has actually become.

Apparently that's what the last coach was on. It would have been a very tough decision, especially with a wife and couple kids.

Who else do we really have for candidates? It's easy to look back now and say they should've done a search last time round but I think that would have been awful tough after Maine was less than a minute away from being NC. It's not like Maine got the calls in OT either.

Gwozdecky had a base of $221K according to this article http://www.denverpost.com/opinion/ci_22942693/coachs-firing-mystery. There is no way Montgomery is going to making $350k if anything he will be at or a little below what Gwozdecky was making.
I read somewhere be was mid 300's, could be completely wrong. Who are your other candidates besides Bob?

That's why you do a national search to see who's interested in the job. I'm not sold on just handing it over to Corkum. I was a big fan of his as a player, but as a coach he's been part of the problem the past 5 years now all of a sudden he's being made out as the savior.

Corkum should have been interim coach back in December, a search committee set up and in place long before the season ended, and a decision made before the Frozen Four started. Instead, this administration sat around, weighing the pros and cons, fretting about what happens if they do this, what happens if they do that, how's this gonna look?
Instead of acting, they sat around over-analyzing. And as a result, blew a golden opportunity.

If I am right this "national search" is simply another farce. If the school wants to lie and say it's a marquee job and they want a national search, that's one thing. I kinda expect the school to lie a little in public. Walsh used to lie to the press all the time. But he told us when he was "using" the media; there is absolutely no reason to tell the players you've begun a national search when you haven't. That really ticks me off.

Both are right. His base salary was 221K, but he received other forms of income that pushed it close to 400K.
