Back in the day...

Re: Back in the day...

Steve, Dave Collins from West Haven here. I have enjoyed your excellent blog from start to finish, being a a 77 grad of West Haven ( WH managed to beat the Greenies in the finals that year), I was privileged to see the "Gag" line in person many times. My old man of the same name used to guard the home side doors at the Bennett Rink during your high school days. Surprising how Bud Conlan managed to pay guys to do that back in the day, but that was how popular the games were, all sellouts. I managed to stay in town as a firefighter and still live here. I fish regularly with Jack Coyle, also Marty Crouse was in my wedding party. Keep up the good work, and good luck to your son!

Re: Back in the day...

Thanks Dave. Great to hear from you. I just spent the past 3 weeks in WH. I saw Wendy Conlan at my reunion.
Wonderful. Memories. Say hi to Marty. Where's his kid going?

Conor was on the roster for New England College as far as I know. Checked the team stats for last year and he was not listed, he is shown on this years roster though.

Re: Back in the day...

Thanks. Of course, looking at that roster, who isn't on it. That's a lot of kids.
I'll keep an eye out for Conor. I know a few other kids on that roster. I'll ask them.
Kyle Manlow from San Diego was a team mate of my kids in youth hockey ith the San Diego Gulls org.
Ryne Lubert played with my son at Tilton and is another Southern Cal kid our boys knew and played against growing up.
Johnny Parise-Cornier was another Tilton teammate

Re: Back in the day...

Thats too bad, like Dad, boatload of talent hindered by size. Conor did bat .307 for the baseball team at New England last year according to stats. I played softball with him last year, good kid.

Re: Back in the day...

His grandad was Art Crouse. My HS coach at WH high.
Great coach. Great player. Great man. Also quite short. He played for the US natty team in the late 40s.
