Things to note: (or things I note that have no relevance, but I find it interesting)

(1) Do the coaches have this contest locked up? Will the title next year say "Coaches Poll"?

(2) 2019-2020 results and 2021-2022 results may be a match?

(3) Theodore, Stella, and Young from AIC make up 3 of the top 4 scoring leaders, currently. Calverley from RIT rounds out the top 4.

(4) Looking at each teams average position throughout the year we see a couple of clear leaders, from the start; those clearly struggling; and those who made great strides to advance at the end of the year.

(5) AIC took control about 1/2 way through the season and never let go.

(6) Army ran the whole list going down to 10th place, then getting stuck at 7th, and finally ending up in 3rd this week.

(7) Bentley started in 7th, went to first for 1st and 2nd for 5 weeks and then plummeted to 7th.

(8) Canisius started very slowly the first few weeks, sitting in 10th and 9th positions, but slowly climbed and maintained over the 2nd half of the season to arrive in 2nd place in 4 out of the last 5 weeks.

(9) Holy Cross headed to 10th, early in the season, and stayed there.

(10) Niagara has been a consistent leader of the lower third of the pack all year.

(11) RIT started strong with many 1st and 2nd place weeks, them moving quickly to the middle of the pack for about 3 weeks, ultimately struggling back up their current 4th place position.

(12) Sacred Heart has enjoyed the upper middle of the pack all year and ends up confidently in the middle.

(13) if we based the winners on average position, week by week, through the year we would have:

1 - AIC
2 - RIT
3 - Canisius
4 - Bentley
5 - Sacred Heart
6 - Army
7 - Mercyhurst
8 - Niagara
9 - Air Force
10 - Holy Cross

(CORRECTIONS WELCOME)

Biggest movers since last posting:
Air Force gains 2 positions.
Sacred Heart loses 2 positions.

WHERE WILL WE BE AT THE END OF SATURDAY NIGHT?

FOR CERTAIN: AIC #1
FOR CERTAIN: HOLY CROSS #10
EVERYONE ELSE: EVERYWHERE ELSE

When was the last time a real live person of the human being persuasion did not win the contest?

I don't think I have ever been involved in one of these over my 20 years of being on USCHO where a group designed order emerged victorious over numerous singular person designed lists. I have missed a number of years however, so maybe it has happened.

And the victor(s) in our Atlantic Hockey Pick the Standings contest for the 2021-22 Season is:

COACHES POLL

2nd place was another non-individual and non-human estimator: 2019-2020 Comparison Result

Our first individual human came in third place: Blitz

There biggest misses were Air Force and Niagara, but they nailed 5 teams, exactly.

(CORRECTIONS WELCOME)

Thanks for participating and, if you are at Niagara University this coming weekend for their opening playoff series against Bentley, I'll see you there!

Congratulations on your Regular Season Championship Title AIC!

Not sure it changes anything, but Army/RIT were tied for points, and Army wins the tiebreaker, so Army is 3, RIT is 4, which the coaches poll had correct per your post. So they really nailed 7 teams correctly.

I definitely got confused as I kept checking the final positions since late Saturday night on USCHO. Positions moved numerous times and didn't appear correct, but I was assuming they were just working out all the tie breakers. I'll rerun them with this change and see if it changes any positions. The Coaches just really saw the field clearly this year!

Alternate results, exchanging Army and RIT:
1Coaches Poll14 (2 points better)
22019-2020 Results16 (4 points better)

Doesn't change the order of the overall ranking, and only slightly changes each individual score. Pick the one you prefer. :)
