Team USA takes on Russia Tuesday night in Red Deer, Alberta, at 7 p.m. MST.
Bjugstad "banged up" and will not play in the first 2 pre-tournament games.
Final team should be selected Thursday.

Hope that it's just precautionary as I'm looking forward to seeing that big boy take on the stinkin' Canadians.

I like our team this year or at least many of the parts. Hopefully they can come together quickly.

How sweet would it be for Canada to not win for the third year in a row? Instead of riots in just Vancouver, the whole country might burn.

Burn baby burn! :mad:

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

Rumor has it that B-Jugs' injury is something that can't be worsened by playing, but he'd (or MN coaches) would rather he rest. Selfishly, I'd like it if he missed the WJC.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. The UND men's hockey team has an American on their team AND he's under 20 years old?! I don't believe it for a second, misprint.

Canada: the only team that would actually break out a THIRD JERSEY for this tournament! :eek::eek::eek: (anyone remember the green ones from the 09-10 tournament?)

For the World Juniors Twitter followers;
@davestarmancbs--Starman is already in Canada
@ThePipelineShow--always a good source

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

USA loses to Rusia 6-3. Seth Jones reportedly had his arm in a sling after the game.
USA Power Play 0-6. (OMG that sounds familiar)

Next up for Team USA is an exhibition game Dec. 21 against Switzerland in Camrose, Alta. Puck drop is slated for 7:30 p.m. MST, with full coverage at USAHockey.com.

Team USA will play its first preliminary-round game of the IIHF World Junior Championship on Monday (Dec. 26) against Finland. The game, to be televised on NHL Network U.S., will start at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Remember how awesome that gold medal game 2 years ago was? I still recall that game as one of the most exciting that i have seen.

That game was SWEET! I think we ran through an entire score thread (or two); at least the WJC thread turned into a score thread.

Jones is out for the WJC (Trouba will probably take his spot) and reportedly done for the year.

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

Nice to see Yale's Kenny Agostino got a goal, he was out injured for the last 3 Yale games and his injury was kept very tight lipped. glad to see he is recovered.

Remember how awesome that gold medal game 2 years ago was? I still recall that game as one of the most exciting that i have seen.

Been a Hawks fan for over 30 years and when they won the Cup the same year as the USA won the WJC, my son remarked that I was more excited when we beat Canada then when Kaner scored.

In real time, he was right. I guess it was more of a long shot for the U.S. team to win and I really have a hatred for Canadian national teams and their fans and the attitudes. Also it was a one and done and the tension was so high and then gloriously released. :D

That game and the '96 World Cup Final are two of my all time favorite hockey victories.

Have the game from two years ago recorded. Will probably need to watch it again before the 26th.

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

Mine is the 1980 win over the Soviets, and it isn't even close. Though the 2010 WJC overtime win over Canada was awesome. As was the Gopher's 2002 win over Maine for the National Championship and Eden Prairie's overtime win over Duluth East for the MN State Championship last year.
