Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

If an Islamic man shooting up an army base didn't move the needle, or has been pointed out already a pair of Islamic fundementalists shooting up a social workers holiday party, why would the next follower of Islam shooting up people be any different? People I am telling you, NOTHING will move republican politicians off their as ses. NOTHING. The only way we will see meaningful changes to gun laws is with democratic party majorities in the House and Senate and a democratic party occupant in the White House.

It has to be a supermajority in the Senate, or else the Pubbies will just filibuster.

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

It will only take one shooting for the gun laws to change. When an Islamic man shoots up a school, mall or church and massacres white people. Don't laugh. It happened in 1967 when the Black Panthers started to arm themselves. The Mumford Act was signed by that militant socialist from California, Governor Ronald Reagan.

No, if that happens Republican Members will just try to make Islam illegal.

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

Officially. But it is simple to get around filibuster rules, and the majority can change the rules at any time. Odds are if the Democrats ever get a majority in the Senate again the filibuster will be dead once and for all.

I wouldn't assume that with the current leadership.

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

It's already a campaign issue. I would hope if the senate flips we'd get new leadership anyway. I'm not excited about a prospective Majority Leader Schumer.

We can hope all we want but leadership follows from the power structure within the chamber. I don't see any significant changes among the Dems. We saw in the House what happens when people try to realign leadership because of ideology instead of naked power. That's a short walk off an even shorter pier.

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

Sometimes I think it's a conspiracy between the parties to give them a convenient issue to gin up their respective bases and keep getting re-elected.

Abortion is on line two demanding equal time

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

Huh...

NEARLY ALL OF MEXICO'S GUN VIOLENCE IS COMMITTED WITH ILLEGAL FIREARMS COMING FROM U.S.
While the right to bear arms is protected by the Mexican constitution, as it is in the U.S., there are much stricter regulations on the sale of firearms: For the most part, assault weapons are banned, as is anything more powerful than a .38 caliber gun. Guns can only be sold legally by the military—in the entire country, there is only one legal gun store, located in Mexico City.

Customers must undergo months of background checks to enter the Directorate of Arms and Munitions Sales on the outskirts of town. The government authorizes the sale and registration of only one handgun per owner for the purposes of "human defense."
But a February 2018 report from the Center for American Progress found that the problem of U.S. firearms goes beyond Mexico: between 2014 and 2016, more than 50,000 guns originating in the United States were recovered during criminal investigations in 15 countries in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

"Put another way," the report added, "during this span, U.S.-sourced guns were used to commit crimes in nearby countries approximately once every 31 minutes."

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

No. I don't believe that. The Democrats care about government too much. It's a conscious effort by Republicans to use the minority rules of government, and majority rules when they have it to keep these issues alive. The rich want it that way cause as long as the weak, poor, and stupid are fighting over things like that they can't see the 23 trillion dollars that was stolen from them.

No. I don't believe that.

It's not a surprise that it was two conservatives agreeing.

They tell themselves that it's both sides. It's how they sleep at night.

Cuz, you know, Nazis, Non-Nazis, they're all politicians and who can tell the difference, AMIRITE?!

I simply am agreeing that abortion is an issue that keeps getting brought up so the parties can argue over it, and get votes. Simple as that. ;)

You were saying that the parties are in cahoots. This is not a fact. The GOP is trying to legislate Christian fundamentalist idiocy and the Democrats are trying to protect a fundamental civil liberty of women.

Smiley faces don't make your wrong statements any less wrong and they don't make attempts to mask your party's malicious agenda with bothsiderism cute. Find another hobby.

Re: Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

In "cahoots" only as far as "ya wanna argue about this again? Get some votes? Ok."
