An Experiment: A Literal Political Thread

Re: An Experiment: A Literal Political Thread

Ooo. Very nice (albeit transposed -- at least I hope so, see Urban Dictionary)

I can't access UD at work. I'll have to look it up when I'm at lunch.

It was just one that popped into my head as I was getting into the car this morning. The other one I thought of was Sienna Simpleton. Beyond that, I'm starting to reach.

Hillary Clinton herself said that she was suffering memory lapses in the aftermath of a concussion.....

Hillary Clinton told the FBI she did not recall all the briefings she received on handling sensitive information as she made the transition from her post as U.S. secretary of state, due to a concussion suffered in 2012, according to a report released Friday.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a summary of the July 2 interview it conducted with the Democratic presidential candidate, as well as other details of its investigation into her use of a private email server while heading the State Department.

Don't worry though, everything is all right now.....(sorry, no source for that last statement, apparently it is an unconfirmed rumor.... ;) )

Re: An Experiment: A Literal Political Thread

Was Clinton wearing an earbud during the "candidates' forum" hosted by Matt Lauer?

Sources in the NYPD seem to think so....

While Clinton was fielding questions from NBC’s Matt Lauer and the public Wednesday night on live television, a quiet buzz started circulating in New York law enforcement circles about Hillary’s left ear. NYPD sources involved with the NBC forum’s security detail confirm Clinton was wearing an ‘inductive earpiece,” the same technology employed by almost all lead Broadway actors to receive forgotten lines and stealth off-stage cues from directors. The flesh-colored earbud is easily concealed. There are no wires running directly to the ear like you see with the units employed by Secret Service protection detail personnel.

The skin-tone piece Clinton was wearing, however, was somewhat different from the standard issued stealth earpiece and is much different in appearance from a hearing aid. This unit is considered a “micro” earbud which contains all the technology but is a fraction of the size with a very high price tag. In fact, most of the units this size, approximately 3mm or comparable to a small pearl stud earring, are normally issued to law enforcement or corporate security teams, sources said. At a size that small, the earbud is designed to sit inside the opening of the ear canal, almost invisible to anyone. However, the unit does move and shift along with its wearer and at times can slightly pop out of the canal and require a quick readjustment, experts said.

Ironically, the revelation that Clinton was wearing such a unit might have only been recognized because of astute NYPD officers attached to her security detail who are accustomed to seeing the stealth apparatus at stage shows, conventions and security personnel of VIPs and international dignitaries at the United Nations and elsewhere in the five boroughs. Likewise, NYPD detectives employ a parallel technology to communicate during undercover Ops.

Based on experts familiar with the technology, the stealth earpiece operates on a bandwidth from 300 Hz to 4KHz. Many such units are powered by SONY. The range of the unit can be unlimited depending on how the back end is set up. Technically, you could receive cues from 100 feet away or from someone sitting in Washington D.C. while you sat in New York City, experts said. The set up and range is flexible based on need and use

I wonder if Trump's team is going to try to hack into the frequency during the debates....

Re: An Experiment: A Literal Political Thread

Rachel Maddow debunked the earbud conspiracy. It's BS.

Fox News thinks Trump will win, at least publicly they're saying that.

An MSNBC personality carries as much weight when saying something to protect the Democratic candidate as they do when they lambaste Trump for having orange skin and a ****zu on his head instead of human hair.

ROTFLMAO

Comparing Rachel Maddow's integrity to Fox News personalities is like comparing WWE to PBS.

It was a dumb attempt, too. The reason the Dubya earpiece during the debate resonated was it made perfect sense: he was a charming ignoramus human shield for the psychotics who pulled his strings -- of course they were programming him. OTOH, even the most whacked out sufferers from HDS admit she's sharp and completely on top of the subject matter. If anything they say she's too smart and too calculating -- none of the hurr durr set would like to have a beer with her (this is supposed to be a negative somehow).

They should go back to their "she's the lesbian lover of that ISIS member Huma!" crazy uncle chain letters. At least those fit the narrative.

Because when it comes to debunking things that make Democrats look bad, lord knows Maddow is the reigning authority.

I'll agree it's most likely BS, but let's not pretend that she isn't fully in the tank for Hillary.

That's still a reliable trope among Freeptards.

In the era of FOX news this entire line of thinking is hilarious.

based on what evidence?

Maddow played up the 'nerd cute' like she always does, and it got to him. :p

It amazes me the number of college educated men who fall for her shtick hook, line, and sinker, but have no problem criticizing the bubble-headed bleach blondes of Fox.

for some reason, your post reminded me of an article in Pravda during the Cold War.

From time to time, the USSR and the USA would have bilateral athletic competitions as a way of reassuring the rest of the world (and mutually ourselves, I suppose) that we actually could get along with each other every now and then.

The Pravda headline would sometimes read "USSR finishes second, USA finishes next-to-last."

In that case, they actually were telling "a" truth.....but "the" truth, so to speak??

Re: An Experiment: A Literal Political Thread

If I might first apologize for letting my disgust at Clinton's moral depravity show through so clearly, I tried to keep it evidence-based (like her very own words that she was having memory lapses after a concussion!) but some of my "evidence" was not quite so reliable, I guess they call that confirmation bias.

so anyway.....

Do you actually clutch your pearls when you post? Or do you have to tend to the wounds on your wrists, ankles, and rib cage first?

Re: An Experiment: A Literal Political Thread

awhile earlier in this thread, I had cited a moral philosopher about a particular issue, and the OP of the thread responded by describing how much he liked that philosopher's work. :)

Reading a bit more, an interesting exercise in moral reasoning came to me. It is presented in a way that seems "provocative" in the sense that it is designed to evoke an emotional reaction.

That emotional reaction in turn is a signal to us that we need to think things through a little more than we are used to. The results eventually will be fine.

The first step is to lay out an observation, purported to be empirically far more likely to be the case than not:

"Those people who are most adamant that Darwin's theory of evolution through natural selection is the only right way to understand biology are also the very same people who are most adamant that the unfortunates of our society be protected from Darwinian pressures that otherwise would cull their existence."

It is deliberately phrased to sound 'harsh' to highlight the glaring intellectual contradiction.

Of course I pretty much agree with both premises of the statement yet have no sense of contradiction at all about it, because I can make one minor tweak in the wording of one of the statements that makes it work out after all.

Fish, the fact that you have to condescendingly recall this anecdote as if I'm some wide-eyed 18 year-old college freshman sitting in your Economics 101 lecture, is just silly. :p

I might be able to see Maddow for the pathetic opportunist that she is, but that doesn't mean I'm on your side here.

Yes. This is that man. For my money, one of the three finest ethical philosophers of the 20th century, along with him and the incomparable her.
