I see Dakota Mermis is listed on the menu for Sunday. It will be interesting to see if he gets picked up. If not, I wonder if he'll get any flack for leaving college. The OHL certainly appears to be the place to be if you're an aspiring hockey player

Former Denver Pioneer Joe Colborne on the NHL/NCAA atmosphere:
“I’m telling you, I’ve had the opportunity to play a Game 7 of the NHL Playoffs in an Original Six battle, and the feeling in both Toronto and Boston was unbelievable, but I don’t even know if you can compare it to the atmospheres that I felt in North Dakota and in Wisconsin,” said Colborne, with a fondness coming through in his tone of voice. “The fans love to get on you, they have chants that everyone in the entire stands knows, Wisconsin has little dances that they do—it’s an atmosphere you’ll never be able to replicate anywhere else but in college hockey.”

Jon Paquette resigned from the Big East yesterday. (media director + for over 20 years) I would love to see him as commish of NCHC.

Good quote from Colborne. I imagine stuff like at Wisconsin is not seen anywhere else in hockey (except maybe Latvian fans following their national team!) I bet you college basketball players would say the same thing about the college vs. pro environment. And football players, for that matter. That's part of what makes college sports more interesting than pro.

Seeing Quentin's summary of points by freshmen for "Denver University" mostly just makes me realize how awesome Jason Zucker was as a freshman.

Anybody else get the "rate out new mascot options" survey email today? I did. I nearly vomited. The options are atrocious. I hope some consulting firm is actually paying DU for the privilege of producing such garbage.

Do you not like the mountaineer? I think it's pretty good, though the other two are very bad.
