According to link below, Genoway will be returning the Sioux. Great to see him recovering and returning to college hockey. Although, can't say I'm looking forward to him running the Sioux power play and defense again next year.

The Sioux are loaded. With Genoway, they are the odds-on favorite to go all the way. They have depth at every position, and the high end talent needed to win it all.

I think its still BC as the favorites to repeat.

Agreed.

I would say UND should be the class of the WCHA, but I wouldn't go further than that.

Miami and Michigan are going to be very good as well.

The early scores on Day 2 are very high. Course is eating the ladies up. We have moved up to 7th, but our gals have only played 3-6 holes. If we just don't fall apart, we should be in top eight by end of today with one round to go. Kim still at +1, but now tied for 4th and only 2 out of lead.
Lacrosse: I hope we can be up for Air Force tomorrow. DU got so much National Lacrosse Press in the past week. ALL Positive..

"Shift of game: Flyers defenseman Matt Carle, who finished with four assists in Game 4, started the play that led to the winning goal with a pass through the neutral zone to Mike Richards. The Philadelphia captain gained the Boston zone and gave the puck back to Carle skating down the center of the ice. Simon Gagne was stationed to the right of Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask and in perfect position for a simple redirection when Carle sent a pass his way. The goal with 5:40 left in the first overtime kept the Flyers’ season alive"

AHL Playoffs Scoring and still playing
Brock Trotter 4-5-9
Gabe Gauthier 2-3-5
Kevin Doell 3-0-3
Keith Seabrook 2-1-3

Peter Mannino 2.83 GAA .899 Sv % 2 Shutouts

thru 5/4/10

Make that another goal for Gauthier (3-3-6) in a Manchester win.
Mannino pulled in the 2nd after giving up 4 goals. Doell not in the line up. The Wolves and the Blackhawks both seem to have Jekyll and Hyde games. :-o

Well, the good news is that Kimberly Kim will be playing at the NCAA Championships. The bad news is the rest of the team won't be playing.
DU finished 9th and missed the cut. Kim had the 2nd lowest scores for teams not qualifying and will get the opportunity to play in North Carolina.

Sad to see Stephanie Sherlock's senior year end without a trip to the NCAAs. Hopefully they will be back in the mix next year.

Bill Tierney's son and assistant coach Trevor Tierney has a blog going about the DU Lax team. Its a good read and thanks to Dunker for finding it.

DU Lax Blog

The Bracketologist at laxpower.com thinks DU will get a seed and thus a home game next weekend. You guys will have some fun with that. He furthur predicts that winner of DU game will go to quarterfinal Regional in Princeton.

Bracket will be announced at 630 PM MT on ESPNU.

Go Pios.

DU coming east next Saturday May 15 to face Stony Brook in NY at 5PM ET (3 PM MT) on ESPNU. DU beat Stony Brook by 1 goal on the road to start their 9 game winning streak. If DU gets by Stony Brook they would play the winner of #1 seed Virginia and Mount St. Mary's in Princeton, NJ on May 22nd.

The dunker was half right--we didn't get the seed, but we would play at Princeton if we beat Stony Brook. Isn't it odd that if Princeton wins they get to play at Stony Brook.

I'm cheering for St. Mary's to upset UVA.

Re: All things Denver XXVII: From Boonetown to Motown - It's not a Ford, it's a Chevy!

Good question. If you would have asked me before our recent NCAA choke jobs, I'd say hockey. But Gwoz has temporarily lost his post-season coaching ability. Until he gets his mojo back, we'll be looking back to the glory days of 04 and 05.
Lacrosse has got a decent shot. I think that lacrosse could become a regular in the top 5-8 pretty quickly. But I also think that it will be hard to break through the stranglehold that top 3 or 4 teams have had on the top tier of college lacrosse. We'll see.

In George's defense 9 DU players went under the knife as soon as the season ended so he was coaching a team that was hurting, some pretty badly. Despite the last couple games of the season DU had a great run.

DU Lax actually is in a pretty good spot. They have beaten Stony Brook before and of all the #1 seeds, Virginia has a lot on their mind.

To win the whole Tournament, DU will probably need to defeat three #1 seeds. Sounds like the 2004 DU hockey N.C.

Re: All things Denver XXVII: From Boonetown to Motown - It's not a Ford, it's a Chevy!

All in all, the Pios have to be pleased that they arern't being sent to play Maryland again, as they were in 2006 and 2008 in their first two NCAA lax berths.

Stony Brook is a team DU has already beaten this year on Long Island, and The Pios are a much better now team than they were when they first beat the Seawolves (who knew Seawolves were such a popular college nickname?) to start the nine game winnning streak in March. Of course, SBU has the revenge factor, no bad losses this year and home field advantage, so it should be a very good game.

If DU should win against SBU, the Pios should just stay out there, since they would play the Virginia vs Mount St. Mary's winner in the same SBU stadium the following weekend. Virginia is the best team in the country, and even with all the murder controversy surrounding that program, would be a hugely difficult team for DU to face.
