Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

I just don't see this DU team reeling off another 10 wins in a row to add to the current win streak. I can see the Pios dropping a game to CC, especially the Saturday game if the Gold Pan is clinched on Friday. I can also see DU dropping a game at the Final Five. After that, all that is needed is to just win four in a row. :D

Emphasis added!

Unless of course that loss in the F5 comes in the semi-final game. Then winning four in a row has DU losing the national title game. ;) :)

Congratulations to Brandon Vossberg on being named one of the seven finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Awaed,

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Oh I know. Wis is 3 pts back with series against MSU, ST. Cld, MT and Minny. UMD is 1 pt back with 3 series on the road against MT, UND and AA and then a home series against Minny. SCSU is 2 back with games against AA, UND, Wisc and MSU. Finally, CC is 3 pts back with 2 games in hand. They play Minn, UND and DU.

I believe it will shake down like this. Wisc/Du/UMD all have realatively "easy" schedules remaining it will truly come down to who becomes hot at the right time. SCSU has a tough road series at UW that might derail their hopes and I beleive CC has too tough of a schedule and games in hand to make a run.

Again call me optimistic or down right wrong but here is how i see it unfolding.

#1 Du/UW
#2 DU/UW
#3 UMD
#4 SCSU
#5 CC/or by a miracle UND/Minny just because they have games in hand

HEEEEYEAHHH!!!! MacNaughton Champs!!!!!! I'm glad my prediction for the most part has come true! Wow, CC has completely collapsed since I wrote this! :p

OK, I know I'm focused on injuries, but I would just love to go into the playoffs 100%. Will we have Nutini back for the WCHA tourney? Wasn't it about this time in 2004 when we lost Conner James only to have him come back be a major factor?

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Here's a question for you. How many number one teams have won the NCAA's over the last 10 years or so? I think BU was number one going into DC last year.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Congrats to DU on winning the cup - much deserved for sure. This might be the deepest and most talented WCHA team since the 01' Gophers... like that team many players will be tearing up the NHL very soon.

Just don't get tripped up early in the NCAA's like last year... we need you around to smoke UND for a 5th time this year and/or the drunkin Sconi's. Would love to see a DU vs Miami championship!

I agree and you could argue it might make them hungrier and better rested as well.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Bump.

Got the Award Banquet email today. Among the "banquet pledge opportunities" is "Feed a hungry player = $50." Are you kidding me? Is that supposed to be funny?

So, Boone is not politically correct enough, but it is OK to make snobby, elitist-sounding jokes during tough economic times?

Maybe the Chancellor had nothing to with the flyer, but someone please help me here.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

DU gets another committment for 2011, forward Daniel Doremus who grew up in Aspen and Steamboat. DG has all the details in the LetsGoDU Blog. Mike Chambers broke the story in his Denver Post Blog. Daniel is currently playing for former DU players Angelo Ricci and Shawn Kurulak on the Colorado Thunderbirds.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Paul Stastny's older brother Yan was just traded from St. Louis to Vancouver.

The 'Feed a Hungry Player' option has been on the banquet invites for many years. It's really just a cutesy term to designate a $50 hockey donation if you can't come to the banquet. The players will not go hungry whether you mail a donation or not.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Has anyone else noticed that as the team's winning streak grows the number of posts shrink?

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

I just finished reading the Denver Post's sports section what a sick article.
