I am glad you got it! Yeah that thread is pretty funny. Notice there are very few DU posters involved in it. I am expecting big things from DU this weekend.

Was just reading 5280 and it said that Gary Magness and his wife (Celestial Seasonings heiress) were investors/producers in the new movie Precious . Haven't seen it but it seems to be getting a lot of buzz.

If the movie does well, perhaps we should hit them up for some more Magness Arena improvements - stuff like TV Lighting, better sound and PA, working side scoreboards, history and traditions stuff, etc. The building is now 10 years old now...

Pios keep their #1 Ranking on USCHO. Lost a few first place votes. Sweep in Madison can take care of any doubters. Just have to make sure to show up for both nights!

Its another example of athletes being separated from the student body and being offered preferential treatment.
I guess DU is joining every other school in the country that offers this, but I can't say its a positive development.

I see the point and I agree that I don't want to ever see DU get seperate athlete dorms or dining rooms because of the loss of social integration with the rest of the students, but I can live with seperate training rooms so that athletes can get the access they need and proper focus on weight training, which is crucial for their individual performance as well as team building. Weight rooms are part of the student-athletes' obligation, and they should have a dedicated atmosphere where they can get their job done without the waiting and distractions of a large all-university fitness center.
The larger point about preferential treatment is an interesting one. I'd like to believe that D-I athletes are just like other students, but they are not. They are highly skilled performers who entertain, generate revenue and and television visibility with the school's name on their chest. Accordingly, they have serious obligations that other students do not have, but they also get amazing benefits that other students don't get. Therefore, I think certain preferences are appropriate. If we were to have true equality between students and athletes, the D-III or club model is more appropriate, because there is no TV visibility or real pressure on the student to win or drive revenue.

I was in the process of posting this reply in the series thread when the thread was deleted. So...
I watched your game against AA and I didn't see anything in that scrum that made me think anyone would get suspended. I hadn't heard anything either. Surprising to me.
Other than the obvious losing two of your six, what's the impact for Friday's game?

They were suspended for the leaving the bench as the fight broke out at the end of the game. Two players from UAA left their bench first so Wrenn and Ryder hopped over the boards. Leaving the bench during a fight is an automatic suspension.
Minimal impact on Friday as Donovan and Nutini will return to DU's line-up. Donovan was at the WJC and Nutini had been hurt. Will be interesting to see if Gwoz rotates two d-men out for Saturday to put Ryder and Wrenn back in. Like Wisconsin, DU is deep at D and Ryder, Nutini and Wrenn have been in and out of the line-up all season. Donovan will play both games.
DU has rotated 8 d-men all season with Brookwell, Donovan, Lee, Nutini, Phillips, Ryder, Wiercioch and Wrenn. This depth has helped DU overcome various injuries and the flu which hit the team in the first half of the season. Jon Cook has played in one game on defense and John Lee is the only d-man to play in all 22 games..
