I think the significance of the 5 Minnesota teams getting into the tourney is that it's ALL 5 teams based out of Minnesota. It was mentioned earlier that 4 Michigan and 4 Mass teams all got into the tourney the same year. But how many Mass teams are there? How many Michigan teams?

Just came up short, but 3/4 ain't too shabby. Only the second time in college hockey history that 75% of the Frozen Four was all from one state (1992 - Michigan, Michigan State, and Lake Superior State).

All three Minnesota teams still playing are members of the D-II NSIC for their other sports.
