AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

They really changed up the lines today. Lost to Army 3-2 but had a bunch of almosts and chances. Army's goalie deflected two good chances in the first. Army scored their first goal when An AIC D pinched(good pinch, imo) and we had horrible luck when Pleskach fell trying to play D. It was kind of the story of the game, Army took advantage of their chances and AIC didn't do it enough. The other two goals seemed to be the lack of clearing the puck in tight situations in the 3rd period and the team just collapsed and Army took advantage of it.

My major gripe is from the third period. Twice, AIC players came in to the zone with the puck, gave it up to another player along the boards and skated around the net. Then never paid attention to the play, just skated away from the net. On at least one of the occasions the puck came free to where that player should have been if they were paying attention to the play and were thinking like a goal scorer. [now if the coaches are telling them to do something other than get into position to get an easy goal, then I take this back]

Not sure what to make of the new lines. I thought the D looked good, except the team had trouble clearing the puck in the 3rd period. That was the big downfall.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

The Atlantic Conference is challenging this year. We can't afford to tie teams like Sacred Heart and lose a game to Army when we had every opportunity to win. I had high hopes for this year's team. Now I am hoping they can get back on track and upset Mercyhurst, which is a good team with goal scorers and solid goaltending, while we are on the road. The team is just missing something. Not sure if it is the way they are coached or the fact they've lost so many games over the years that they come to expect L's. I hate when players and coaches are complacent with a good effort but a loss. I would love to see more passion from both the players and coaches.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Your so right woody the team needs to get together and not settle on playing good its an older team with good enough players to win games there losing. They need to play for each other and guys need to step up.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

The best offensive game, by far, this year. The lines clicked tonight, and for maybe the 4th game in a row, I thought the 4th line was superb!

Defense is looking better at times. Moving fluidly with the puck in the corners more than before. Still Meisner made some awesome (3 or more maybe) to keep AIC in the lead.
I was really impressed with a lot of the passing tonight, they were not just making the bread and butter passing, but they were thinking about their passes and made some fantastic decisions. Not every one connected, but practically all of the pass attempts were good ideas.

Mercyhurst still has a lot of fire power, so they need to be on their toes tomorrow night. Hoping they skate just as well tomorrow night!

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Well that wasn't what I was expecting. Mercyhurst played terrible last night and AIC couldn't do anything wrong. Today - Role reversal. Mercyhurst was clicking and AIC stumbling. What does this team need to do to get consistent and get everyone firing at the same time?

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

What the h e l l was that? 14 Goals against in 2 games. I couldn't make the games, but based on shot count each game, didn't seem like AIC was dramatically outplayed. What happened?

5-2-3 in your last ten games... lookout world, here comes the Yellow Jackets!

Shoulda coulda woulda last night. Looked incredible in the first period, looked good in the second even with all the darned penalties they took.
but they turned lazy in the third. Trying to hold on. When you are leading 4-1 going into the third, great teams come out expecting to make it 7-1 not to hold on. A couple lazy plays and penalties. they had a couple of PP but they took the foot off the pedal and HC was able to take away most chances. Also hit a couple of pipes.(but so did HC on their 5-3s) Neither team wanted to really play in overtime. both had chances if they turned it on.

Rensselaer County is the hotbed of AIC support!

That 4th goal AIC scored has to be the cheapest goal I have ever seen. You watch a player slap the puck down the boards just to clear it in, and next thing you know, it's in the back of the net. Somehow hit a stanchion and went right into the net. Possibly hit the goalie in the back of the leg? Worse than the goal from Canisius which changed direction by about 15-25 degrees on a weird bounce on a simple clear in two years ago.

Last night's Army game was a game I would have liked to have had replay. Army was took two retaliation penalties which were quite uncharacteristic for them. On the first, I saw a collision near center ice, but didn't see if it was by chance or purposeful, then the Army player ran an AIC player into the boards a few moments later.
The second, a 5 minute blow to the head, I missed the reasoning, but someone watching the game online said an AIC player should have been called for a penalty, but got away with one.

Decent game for AIC, but a bunch of missed chances, especially on point blank shots. Army was really pressing in the second, and got a few odd man rushes, but AIC withstood most of the pressure without great fault, but they really did not get many scoring chances in the 2nd.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

A good game from AIC. The last minute of the game was a mess, and honestly, Bentley probably should have scored the game tieing goal. Otherwise, AIC was doing a real good job of winning the battles on the boards, and controlling the game.

AIC came out of the gate not looking too good. Bentley had control of the game for at least the first 10 minutes. Two players came free off the boards, and the guy with the better angle had the puck and put a perfect shot off the post past Meisner to take a 1-0 lead. AIC started to gain some momentum in the second half of the period. Pleskach put a beautiful shot into the net. AIC had a fair number of quality chances through the second period, but Bentley's goalie stood strong. It took a really good shot from MacMillan in the third to take a 2-1 lead. From there AIC tried for more and stayed aggressive until maybe the last minute and a half. Bentley got into the zone and had maybe three good cross ice passes to a wide open guy down low. I think all the shots missed the net.

RIT messed up the slim chance AIC had of getting the 8th place and home ice for the first round of the playoffs, but now it looks like the only possible places we will be going are: RIT, Canisius and Mercyhurst.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

What an amazing game, I mean the only thing I can wonder is how the one guy for Bentley got so wide open on the Power Play.
it was an incredibly hard fought game on both sides. Bentley's defensive scheme was very much sit back and try to score on turnovers. Bentley scored the first goal when the puck took a bad bounce over an AIC's Dman's stick and I think they went in on a two on zero breakaway. I have to give major credit to Bentley's Defense, they were well positioned for most of the night. It was a tough nut to crack, and it took exceptional plays to crack it.
AIC kept on trying to crack Bentley's defense and they really couldn't in the first half of the game. But AIC kept on coming. They played persistent hockey and even after they were down 3-1 they still pushed. Very inspiring play. And they were able to tie it up at 3-3 late in the third.
In overtime, with less than a minute left, AIC pulled their goalie as is they lost or tied, they would be in 10th and if they won they would be in 9th. Bentley's coach was steamed over the decision. Unfortunately a penalty was called on AIC. Bentley's coach decided to play ***-for-tat and it backfired as AIC scored an empty net goal with about 1.4 seconds left in the game.
This AIC team has come a long way since the beginning of the year. They're playing with confidence! What a great way to go into the playoffs!

:) I'm a native of Berkshire County... so I don't mind pulling for Springfield. ;) And you have one of the best sweaters in college hockey.

It's good for Atlantic Hockey to see AIC having a nice run entering the playoffs. You deserve it... but don't just make some noise in the playoffs, get some wins!

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

I thought the team looked clunky at times. Just a lack of something... flow maybe... Wasn;t like the past month where they were really buzzing around the ice. Maybe it's the small ice too? At times they looked ok, but Rit was just enough getting in the way. Still better than earlier in the season, but from the past month, this team is capable of so much more!
I thought the defense looked good in the first half of the game, but the team D collapsed at times in the second half of the game. Maybe I had a different angle, but Meisner played a few more shots poorly tonight, but it didn't hurt him.
The 4th line had some chances in the first period, but wasn't able to finish. And we had a 5-3 chance, but the puck just didn't bounce for us on the one great chance.
The TV timeouts didn't help the flow of the game either. Amazingly, the game finished at 9:15, so there was maybe only 10 more minutes to the game compared to most other games.
We still had chances to tie the game up, and that is good, just didn't go in.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

I thought AIC outplayed RIT for large portions of tonight. If AIC converted on the 5x3 and if Meisner didn't turn it over with about :20 to go in the second period the scores would have been reversed. Ruby looks solid but if he drops off it could be real trouble for RIT.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

AIC definitely impressed me tonight, not the team I've grown accustomed to seeing out of Springfield. The entire third period was owned by you guys, and Ruby stood on his head for us to win it. We'll see who cracks first - RIT's goaltending or AIC's defense.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Aic looks like a good team I agree with cornwell 4 th line looked good. The coach is trying to play 3 lines hes killing the 1rst 2 lines and theres no need to. If AIC plays 4 line they win if not another losing year for a loser coach.
