AIC Hockey 2013-14 - We beat the runner-up

Hoping to say, "we beat the national champ" but no such luck.

Two commitments for next year, hoping for another strong class to build on last year. Baby steps!

AIC will be playing at UMass Lowell this year. Not sure of the date yet.

We are down to one goalie. I hope the coaches can find a diamond in the rough for a backup to Kerpan(senior).

Only two early season games that need to be scheduled are single games vs Sacred Heart and Bentley. The schedule early on is sparse, so it will be interesting to see if they get a scrimmage put into the schedule. Three Tuesday games, with two in a row in the end of November and early December.

Word at the AHA meeting from Coach Wright is that the goaltending is completely up for grabs. They will have a good two weeks to get ready for their first game, so whoever gets the call will have some serious competition from Providence for their first game. Will be interesting to see how the team reacts to only having one game a week for so many weeks to start off the season.

CornwallAce - I am sure you will likely see this before a post in AHA pick'em - but you didn't make picks, just reposted the teams playing.

Hopefully you see this and can fix it.

Good first AHA game against Sacred Heart. Still some things to work on, but over all was a good game.
Ty Reichenbach, a freshman who played his first game in goal was stellar. In past years, he would have had a shutout, as the net was off the post when the goal went in. He seems incredibly solid, and seemed to anticipate the movement of the puck very well. Even though he is listed at 6'2" he didn't seem as big as your typical goalie.
Two freshman were on the first line so the coach must have a lot of confidence in some of the freshmen.
The next big test will be from Michigan State. I am sure they will exploit any bad plays from the team, so hopefully it will be a good learning experience.
