AHA/CHA merger?

LtPowers

Lt. J. Isaac Powers, Starfleet
With the demise of the men's division of the CHA, Niagara and Robert Morris will be joining Atlantic Hockey. Of the five remaining CHA members, then, the three that have counterpart men's teams (NU, BobbyMo, 'Hurst) are members of the AHA. The CHA is also the likely destination of choice for RIT's women's squad when it makes the move to D-I.

Is it time to discuss a merger? I think such a move would encourage more AHA schools to start women's programs or move them (in the case of Holy Cross and Sacred Heart) to the CHA, and that seems like it would be good news for women's hockey.

Re: AHA/CHA merger?

What might make more sense is adding a Holy Cross and Sacred Heart and maybe a Ohio State to the CHA?

Hope not, but a thought.

Re: AHA/CHA merger?

I see the travel logistics as a stumbling block right out of the gate.

What travel logistics? A merger would not result in any immediate changes to either conference's lineup, since AHA has no women's division, and CHA has no men's division.
