Apparently Lawrence, Marian and Finlandia. Northland is the only other MCHA team that Adrian only plays twice, and somehow I don't see them cracking the top 4.

Please do not misunderstand, I mean no slight towards Marian. I suspect that Marian may see the fruits of their labors next season, with Lake Forest and Lawrence directly behind them.

Adrian has been the unquestioned king of the MCHA the last three years, and Marian's only win over Adrian was against a backup goaltender, and the program was in its first month of existence. It was also three years ago, and we're not going to beat that dead horse here. Also keep in mind that Adrian's group of seniors has also tasted the NCAA tournament, going toe-to-toe with St. Norbert before losing by a goal. I suspect that last year's experiences will provide this team with a nice boost for this season.

That's why I was happy that they the AQ last season instead of waiting for this one. Sure, they took it in the chops in the tournament, but they can now take that experience and use it this season if/when they get another shot. We'll see what they do with it.

There is no question that Adrian is the class of the MCHA and still the heavy favorite anytime they play Marian. My thought was that if Marian played them close at the end of last season, they should in theory be able to hold their own during the 10/11 regular season, especially considering that they have a solid incoming class and minimal graduation losses. Adrian is still the tops of the MCHA and very, very capable of running the table again this season. I don't know a ton about how these schools schedule, but I am a little surprised that Adrian kicks the season off with Marian. Obviously you don't have much flexibility with the Czech team, but some sort of tune up might be nice.

I think Lawrence should be a litttle better this year and I think that Finlandia should also bounce back a bit. The later's recruiting class is bigger than I expected and they have a good, new coach. I never know what to make of MSOE this time of year.

Well, Adrian does have their Thanksgiving series, and they're playing out east on New Years, so there was only a single game left out there. I suspect that we're making the trip to Buffalo State to return the favor of them coming out here last year.

Yet keep in mind, Finlandia lost their top leading returning scorer to Plattsburgh this season....they will need some help...

I could be completely full of * here, but from what I've heard, they have brought in a nice class, so we'll see. I still think they're getting in line behind Lawrence, Lake Forest and Marian, and after this season I highly doubt Adrian is going to dry up and blow away. And I have no idea what to make of MSOE.

The odds of going undefeated in MCHA play certainly favour the Bulldogs. A disciplined defensive gameplan, coupled with a very hot goalie .....is all it will take to hand them a loss. Marian will compete but Coach Wise probably won't have his team in top form for the early visit to Arrington. I'm not ready to drop MSOE too far from the top. Here's how I have them stacked.

NL, you're probably correct.

One advantage for Marian though is that I believe they open their season the weekend before the Adrian series, and it will be Adrian's first games of season.

edit: yup, Marian plays Stout once and Finlandia twice before the Adrian series. It will be Adrian's first games of the season...

Is it just me or has this "off-season" seemed to go on forever. Let's get the games started.

Adrian is going to see their goaltending improved this season. Morissette is going to push Fogal to elevate his game. Either way, BullDogs will see improvement from a consistency standpoint. Two solid goalies. Landing Morissette bodes well for the next 4 seasons for Adrian.
