A tragic loss

Re: A tragic loss

A friend, who lost her daughter last year, told me it is like having a pebble in your shoe for the rest of your life; sometimes it is right under your foot causing constant pain, and then other times it moves to the side, you always feel it and it never goes away. You learn to live life again, but that pebble is always there, shifting moment to moment. The loss of a child has to be the most unbearable of all of life's sorrows.

Thanks for sharing that analogy. Know from first hand experience it is different for everyone. We experienced the loss of one of our own children a few years ago. This stays with you forever. My spouse deals with it in much different ways than myself. Some days are still very emotional, even years later, and events like those for the Turgeon's and the Richardson's hit the memory lane for us every time out.

God speed to both the Turgeon's and the Richardson's.

P.S...We never let our children travel distances over one hour by themselves in a car. While that may seem over protective to some, it is our way of staying comfortable with the risk factors.

OMG, my heart just breaks when I read these kinds of stories. As all have said, thoughts and prayers to the families of both young women!!

(Sorry for asking, and I haven't read all of the posts here but were either of them currently playing D-1 or committed for next season?)

From what little I could find online about either one, Turgeon signed a letter of intent in 2009 to play at Minnesota but never ended up enrolling there. I found even less information about her passenger. It sounds like she's stabilizing in the hospital anyway, so let's hope she pulls through and makes a full recovery. What an awful thing for their families.

The Turgeon's are a strong family, they will prevail. Positive things will come in Elizabeth's name...

Peace be with you, Pierre!

Re: A tragic loss

There's a memorial page online from the funeral home for those who might want to visit. It has a guest book and a nice photo album.

Wow, looking at those pictures rips your heart out.

One very prophetic quote on a card with the twins pictured at a young age in the album: "Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow".

Small update. Brittany Kraemer is now breathing on her own and still stable condition. Ventilator was removed today. Thank you to everyone for the prayers and thoughts.

Re: A tragic loss

As a parent - this is your worst nightmare. As a parent of twins, this is unimaginable there is such a connection between twins and it is the hardest thing for the surviving twin to deal with (My aunt lost one of her twins in a car accident years ago and the surviving twin felt like she lost half of herself and still does at times).
Good news on Brittany.
Everyone is in my prayers.

Re: A tragic loss

Update on B. Kraemer.
Great news. Brittany went home today! She was discharged from UNM hospital this afternoon. Injuries included 3 fractures in her neck, and several fractures in her back...but she has absolute full mobility!! Broken rib, collapsed lung, cuts, bruises, etc. She is in good spirits considering. Thank you to everyone for your concern and prayers.

Thank you as to memorial site address. Many terrific pictures. How vibrant and alive a young person. Turgeon family, I am sorry you lost your wonderful daughter. Such a cutie in her pinafore and with new white sneakers she is showing off. Oh, reader- keep this in mind as you drive. Your life, EVERY life, is surely so very precious.

We are so grateful to find out that Brittany got to go home! What an absolute miracle that she has full mobility! My family and I were the first to come upon the accident and have been thinking of her and Liz and their families every day since. That night changed us. Do you know her family personally? Is there a way for you to contact me without this being on the message board?

Thanks,
Linda

Re: A tragic loss

Brittany's recovery is a mercy. So terrible to lose a vital young person so suddenly and senselessly. I know her friends are having a hard time dealing with it, too. Heartfelt sympathies to all.
