A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Just found out today that my boss has lung cancer. No one seems to know what stage it's at, how she's feeling, etc. All we know is that she's taking a leave of absence. So * cancer.

Also, my dad's behavior has gone from gear-grinding to worrisome. One night, as I'm on FB, my aunt pops up and says "I'm no longer your dad's sister." And I ask why. Turns out, because she doesn't feel like debating the finer points of Scripture, my dad doesn't want anything to do with her, telling her "you no longer have a brother." I'm stunned because although he's been a jerk before about his beliefs, he's never done anything like this. And I'm worried because he just cut us off from the ONE family member who's been there for us over the past couple years.
He cut himself off. You don't need to be cut off. Don't enable his behaviour. Just act like you normally would with yr aunt. I highly doubt he is going to have enough gonads to seperate himself from you- you are his defacto parent who cooks, cleans and generally takes care of him. He isnt going to take care of himself.

Have you thought about talking to your Dad's Pastor about his behaviour? Pretty sure somewhere in Scripture there is stuff that would not recommend his current behaviour.

Thoughts and prayers for a friend of mine.

She spent a semester at my school last year, but lives out west. I was never great friends with her, she was more a friend of a friend, but she's one of the nicest people I'll ever meet.

She got into an awful car accident this week and is in a medically induced coma, to hopefully slow brain function and relieve pressure in her brain. She would have died at the scene due to that pressure but luckily her skull fractured in the exact place that doctors would have cracked it to relieve pressure.

Just received word today that my boss's lung cancer is at Stage 4 and has reached metastasis. She's undergoing intense chemo, but she might never return. My coworkers and I are praying for her return to wellness, or for serenity.

Hey cancer: * you.

So. A month ago we got approved for a Parent Loan for me to get back to school. This week it was denied....so I'm about 16,000 short for school in the fall. Unless I can miraculously get approved for a loan, I can't go back. :(

Sorry to hear UNH.

Bob, I'll be thinking of you and your boss. I lost both grandparents on my father's side to it, and my stepmom lost her sister to it a couple of years ago. Bleep cancer.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

My wife has been nauseous since a week after we got back from the honeymoon. She's been tired and prone to mood swings. She went to the doctors today and they said she has a UTI. It's really breaking her heart, but I'm more scared for her. I fear it's something worse. I wanted to be that she was pregnant, but the blood work won't be back til next week. I'm just really scared for her and trying to put up a brave front for the little one since it's her birthday tomorrow. I can barely function while I'm here at work and I'm on the verge of tears. I know my problems aren't as big as others, but it hurts.

Saying a prayer for all of you tonight.

And some good news: After a quarter where I struggled with keeping my station in class clean, even being sent home on one occasion because I was a mess, I finally got my dad to understand why it's important that we get the house clean. We've already cleaned the counters, stove, and cutting boards, and our next step is to move some of the processed/canned food out, consolidate our dry goods into 1 cupboard and then have the other one for storing kitchen tools, such as my KitchenAid, my hand mixer, plus our baking trays and cutting boards.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Thanks, Bob.

What's even worse is that her ex texted her and saying him and his new wife are having a baby girl. It always seems like he knows how to make her feel worse.

Well...I'm typing this from my dorm room at Gordon College! Praise God, the money came through less than 24 hours ago.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Update on my wife. They did her bloodword and they said she was fine. She's beyond depressed as they didn't find anything wrong with her at all. She's got no energy to do anything and she can barely sleep. They are scheduling her for a sleep study, but she shows no signs of sleep apnea. She rarely snores and never struggles to breathe. I just want to know what's going on because it's killing her inside.
