Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Hey All,

A close friend of my Fiancee's and I has just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She is in excellent health and it is a stage 2 cancer. She should be ok...but please keep her in your prayers.

Her name is Sally, she has been a customer at my work for years, and she helped my fiancee get a job out of school.
Prayers for you all!

Prayers for you both.

And a note of good news tonight: the last two quarters in school, I've been marked down for everything including lack of time management and sanitation. Got my first evaluation back from my baking instructor, and while it is true I need to work on time management, I wasn't marked down for having a dirty station! Things are looking up!
Yay!!

Now I just need to practice my techniques, which I was roundly criticized for today. And like I've said before, I may not be the strongest, smartest, or fastest, and my baguettes may not look like much, but I'll be ****ed if I'm not trying my hardest.

Shirtless I assume you are in a culinary school of somekind? If so thats awesome. Hang in there and you will make it. If there's is one thing I have learned watching several episodes of Kitchen Nightmares (a guilty pleasure) its that all the technical skills in the world can't make up for passion and determination which it sounds like you have in spades. Keep that passion and determination and the technical skills will soon follow. The world can always use another great chef.

Yep, I'm enrolled in the Culinary Institute of Michigan. And I've spoken with my instructor; we agree that I need more practice, and she will schedule that time for me accordingly. Tuesday is my first dry run at the final, and I need to produce five baguettes, 24 knotted rolls, 2 loaves, 1 pie (cream, pecan, or fruit), and eclairs piped with pastry cream. A bit nervous, but I'm ready for it.

Thoughts and prayers for my mom please. She found out today she has an aortal aneurysm and needs surgery. My dad had the exact same procedure 11 years ago and was 2 1/2 years younger than my mom is now when he had it. He died on the operating table.

Sfis, I'm truly sorry to hear of your dad's tragic death. I'll absolutely keep your mother in my prayers. Prayers and thoughts for a successful surgery and perfect outcome for your mother.

One of my two dogs was hit and killed by a car last night. My wife and daughter are devastated.

Prayers for everyone (les, sfis, shirtless and moose)

I would like to make a couple requests.

First, my five year old son has cp. He is scheduled for a procedure next week in which he will receive 20 Botox injections ( 5 in each calf and 5 in each hamstring). All in all the Botox will end up being a good thing. However, it's just one more thing this kid has to deal with.

Second, found out yesterday that my three year son will need to get his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears.

Prayers for all of you, and thanks to all. Mom has decided to have the surgery in March. We have tried to talk her into going to Mayo or one of the other good hospitals in Minneapolis but she won't do it. Sigh....

Thoughts go out to Seattle, moose, and gmann this morning. Hope the medical field can help you find peace.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Thoughts for all going through tough times.

My mom called me asking if I have checked my email. I have not since I just got home and had other things to do. She told me that my aunt (my mom's older sister) has breast cancer. Good news is that they caught it early.
