Twice now I've seen Brett Boeing give a little shot to an opposing player after a Huskies goal. I hope these are just isolated incidents and don't speak to his character.

After the L'Esperance goal, while skating over to the celebration, I saw he gave Ferris #9 a little facewash. Looking at the highlight reel, right beforehand I think the Ferris guy may have given Boeing a little shove trying to get away.

It will be interesting to see if 4 fresh legs are in tonight.

No one played badly enough last night to replace, but I expect Vallis, P Anderson, or Jackson in tonight.
Walker Highland may be in as well.

Refs must've been choking on their whistles all night. Been awhile since I've seen zero penalties called in a game.

I don't remember anything either way where I was grumpy we didn't get a call or impressed we got away with one... Little holds here and there for both sides, but nothing that bad.

The first goal... What a fluke.

We need to be cleaner on the breakout, those turnovers killed us.

Sounds like Gillies was held out of OT with some minor scrape. He may sit because of that.

No Alex Petan tonight.
Neville, Vallis, P. Anderson, and Jake Jackson all in tonight.

Not a good start, with Sturos getting the early dumb penalty and Ferris with the early PP goal.

Re: 95th Season of Hockey- Michigan Tech Huskies 2015-2016 - Thread #1

We have got to stop giving up the first goal, playing from behind is getting really annoying.

The biggest thing still standing out to me and it did last night too is that our passing is absolutely terrible, we miss so many passes and it's killing us.

And Sturos with stupid penalty #2, he should be riding the pine the rest of the night.

Sturos making some atonement for his stupid penalties.

A couple lazy turnovers near the end there. Seems the first period is turning into our worst period so far this year.

Bad news BTW, Petan is out due to injury that occurred during last night's OT.

OK, so I generally know the rules well etc but what I still have never learned or understood is what determines whether a situation will be a 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 when 2 penalties are called. The dual slashing penalties and 4 on 4 is the example here, why was that 4 on 4 and not 5 on 5? Just something I have never understood.

As for Petan, does anyone have any more info on that, all I have is what F2B&G has as well which is from the broadcast.

Another failed breakout, another goal given up, definitely been a problem this year.

So many chances and nothing to show for it, we're playing well but can't get the needed bounce.

This is at best a .500 team we're seeing, injuries not helping but neither is how we're playing. I'm 99.9% sure we fall out of the rankings after this week too.

If the penalty box is empty, and each team gets 1 minor penalty after the whistle, it will go to 4x4. If one team is on the power play, and each team gets 1 minor penalty after the whistle, then it stays 5x4 for the team on the power play.

We needed 4 pts this weekend.

Mel's postgame with Dirk:
Played better than last night, maybe didn't get results we deserved
Will judget team on compete level and how hard they work, did a good job
We will win a lot if we play this hard
A lot of good efforts
Sturos solid, played hard, strong with speed
Some injuries, Steman out for sure, Petan a big loos tonight, but guys did a good job
Will see how Petan is, but we have a lot of good competition
We had some good looks durign 5x3, Ferris with game changing save

Good hard game and the hockey gods evened it up from last night.
As well as the Ferris goalie played, I thought we threw too many pucks off the rush at the net without creating more time and space. We needed better looks against a goalie playing well.
