The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Captain Oversimplification strikes again. First, you were already corrected that the PIM was actually 27-18 as Bigos' 10 minute misconduct provided no PP time for BU. Second, it's clear the difference tonight far and away was Cannata, the better goaltender won tonight. The game could've easily been 4-1 had Cannata not point blank stoned BU on multiple occasions. This is the first time I've seen Mack play, so I can't comment on if they had an "off" night, but to my eyes, they played well. The vast majority of their penalties were their own fault. Both interference calls that lead to the 5 on 3 were blatant and unmistakeable. I didn't see Bigos' subsequent cross check, so I can't comment there. Brodhag stepping out of the box and promptly skating up and checking MacGregor from behind, Bigos checking Megan head first into the boards, these were unquestionable calls. Sure, the embellishment was bad, but then again, the boarding call was a bit questionable itself. The supposedly definitively better team does not take that many absurdly obvious penalties in bad situations to put their team down two men, or give them a 5 minute major. The only clear and distinct difference tonight was Cannata.
37 penalty minutes to 18, add sloppy play on top of that, and we still pulled out the W. This is a championship quality team, far deeper than last year's. If we can get the Meyers situation figured out by next semester watch out.
Agree 100%. Merrimack is better from the net out. My wife said at one point, "Look how Merrimack isn't always running around chasing the puck on defense, it's like THEY actually have a game plan."
