5 Hour energy

Re: 5 Hour energy

Too much B6 and you can have nerve symptoms like numbness, tingling and a dead sensation in the limbs. They taught us about it in school. Have only seen it once but it was pretty distinctive:eek:

I think its B-12 that's in this. It's like 1500% of your daily allowance in one of those things.

Let's take a look at a 24 oz Monster Khaos (it was on special for the same price as a 16ozer, otherwise I usually run with a 16ozer):

RDA %'s (daily value)

Sugars: t (daily value not established)
Vitamin A: 40%
Vitamin C: 20%
Vitamin B1: 2%
Vitamin B2: 100%
Vitamin B3: 100%
Vitamin B6: 100%
Vitamin B12: 100%
Calcium: 1%
Sodium: 1%
Taurine: t
Panax Ginseng: t
Energy Blend: t (glucose, caffeine, guarana, L-carnitine, glucuronolactone, inositol, maltodextrin)

Based on a 2000 calorie diet.

Recommended Daily Intake Max: 2 24oz cans a day. Not FDA regulated (as is with all energy drink, as far as I know)

50% real fruit juice in this concoction.

EDIT: That's per serving, and a 24 oz has 3 servings per can.

placebo effect?

No, because when I started drinking these things, I didn't believe the hype and wanted to prove it wrong. Well, I was wrong. Way wrong.

I think the reason I don't get wired anymore like those first few times is that I have built a tolerance to it. The difference is there, mind you, but the jitteriness or the desire to run around the block 8902768423 times for no reason is gone.

Bet you get a whopper withdrawal if you don't have them tho.

It's actually 8333% which seems crazy. I have four tests in 10 days so 5-hour energy has come in handy. It certainly provides that extra boost needed when reading gets boring and tiring.

Re: 5 Hour energy

I never have crashed from Monster. I did crash once from Redbull, but that's because I had more than the daily recommendations (that's when it first came out). Redbull sucks, btw, but back then, that was the only choice around.

Heh, I drink Monster to keep me awake on long drives, and I don't crash, but I sure as hell know when I need to get off the highway and find the next convenience store :p Also, it makes me need to pee, which keeps me awake too :D

Usually when I have Monster, it's in the morning before work, or before a night I know I will be up late. By the time the Monster "wears off" my normal adrenaline/energy just takes over, hence, no crash. Basically it's a jumpstart. :)

I usually have one at about 2:00 in the afternoon, right at the time when start to feel really tired after lunch, it just gives me a boost so I don't feel like I want to take an afternoon nap.
