2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

But since it's Obama, it's grounds for impeachment.

Why can't something stand on its own? Why does it always have to be compared to what previous presidents did? In this case, any president who nominates someone clearly not qualified for the position deserves to be criticized.

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

According to a guest on Faux News, Bill Clinton plotted his own death to help Hillary win the presidency. And the host (Steve D0uchey) thought this was plausible.
Do these people understand how deranged they sound?

They're all hucksters, and they're killing the GOP. Fox, Drudge, Brietbart, Hannity, Levin, etc - its all a giant con. I doubt any of these people truly give a rat's @ ss about "conservative principles" - can anybody even tell me what a real conservative looks like anymore? Its all about generating outrage amongst the same older dwindling portion of the population to drive up ratings. That's all well and good, but now its causing the party to cannibalize each other as Cantor and now most likely Cochran get turfed. It works for me, but I'm not sure how it works for the people who lean right but aren't completely insane.

We tried to stand things alone when Bush was in office. We were not allowed to do that. We always heard during his administration that it was ok cause other Presidents had done it.

Monumentally stupid IMO but there are more important issues.
True. The implosion of sizable portions of the Middle East dwarfs whether our guy sitting in Oslo will be the best at navigating the nuances of Norwegian politics and such.

Are you implying that we have some measure of control over what happens in the Middle East?

IMO that level of arrogance is what got us in trouble in the first place.

Not what I said and avoiding the point, but as usual, stick your head in the ground about anything less than glowing about Obama.

What's this moaning about impeachment? You're the only one talking about it that I see.

Him and half the Republicans in the House if they count for anything.

Hey, I was agreeing with you. I know you're argumentative, but it makes the most sense to argue with those who are disagreeing with you. I was merely saying (as I believe you meant) that stuff like the Middle East mess is worth way more attention that some Obama patronage appointment to be ambassador to Norway.

We of course don't fundamentally control what happens in the Middle East, but we aren't without some level of influence. Not that our influence necessariliy is even helpful.

Fair enough. Just checking. I agree.

These days there's always a few folks in the out-of-power party that talk about it. It's not like the more radical left fringes didn't talk about it for Bush a good deal.

"a few folks"? It's a state party for crying out loud.

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Which, in the national pictures of an impeachment discussion, is a "few folks".

Bob, CNN called. With your false equivalency skills, they'd like you to interview for an anchor position in prime time. While you may have a smaller audience than you do on this message board, it is a chance for you to get some TV time. :D

They probably wouldn't want me when I tell them I don't watch them, though they might appreciate that I don't watch Fox or MSNBC either.

If they limited prospective hires to that small a pool as "people who watch CNN" they wouldn't be able to hire anyone goo..oh....

I wonder if anyone has suggested to CNN higher-ups that perhaps a significant subset of Americans are tired of tabloid journalism, and wouldn't mind a cable network that presented real, properly-sourced news stories?

Chief: "No! We must redouble our delivery of Nancy Grace's Outrage of the Week™, and stories about Kim Kardashian's sex life!"

*vom*

The old chicken and egg. Is news coverage is this country rubbish because that's what is in demand, or does the public want such stuff and the networks are merely providing what is wanted? Probably some of both.
