2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Cheney fired off this Op-Ed in the WSJ earlier this week.

She responded to that during an interview with him.
If VP Cheney wants US boots in combat roles over there, he's nuts. If he wants an occupying force to keep things peaceable, he may be on the right track, but he has to do one heck of a sales job to convince the masses.

Assuming we're taking a spin down Conspiracy Lane here, it's more likely the drive was degaussed, then sent to a facility where the metals would be recycled.

Her email files should still be on a server location, though. I know mine are.

Depends on the set up. Government is way behind technology wise in some areas of IT. Some of their systems (VA Medical for example) are over 20 years old.

I'm working on a project for the Air Force to replace a system that runs on MS DOS, it blows my mind how behind some of their systems are.

I know that the Federal Reserve's MQ system was built more than 30 years ago, and its file layouts are just as old (and proprietary). The project began last year to have it replaced by 2017/2018, which impacts me professionally.

That said, the email systems should be updated more regularly, given that the tech wasn't widely used until the late 90's, and there are greater concerns for security to require scheduled updates against those threats.

Considering that Email is the biggest cesspool of insecurity and wide open crap it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if they didn't have tight governmental controls on all of it. Email is garbage and the Internet standards for it are garbage.

Every neocon was out in force last weekend on the Sunday pundit shows. Their sales job is the same it always is: if you do not do everything I say right this second without any questions, 9/11. None of them learned a thing. For Wolfowitz and Bremer and Cheney and Kristol, when reality contradicts your theory, you throw out reality.

I'm all for washing my hands of the mess, but history shows us the Churchill was right and Chamberlain was wrong.

So there is an element of doubt in my mind.

There was a local government here in Iowa who voted to eliminate their backup systems. Apparently they were still using magnetic tape as their backups, and it was too costly to upgrade to a modern system.

There's nothing wrong with using tape up to a certain point. My company still does it for many of our smaller customers who won't pay for a passive backup system, or an active disaster recovery environment. However, it is impractical for backing up large amounts of data, and makes the recovery process a lengthy nightmare.

First Christie, now Walker.

The field is shrinking.

MADISON (AP) — Newly released documents show prosecutors believe Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was at the center of a nationwide "criminal scheme" to illegally coordinate fundraising with outside conservative groups.

No charges have been filed against Walker or any member of his staff. The documents became public Thursday as part of an ongoing lawsuit challenging the investigation by the conservative group Wisconsin Club for Growth.

One of the filings from prosecutors outlines previously unknown details about the investigation that began in 2012 as Walker was facing a recall election.

Prosecutors say Walker, his chief of staff and others who worked for him were discussing illegal coordination with a number of national groups and prominent figures, including GOP strategist Karl Rove.
