Completely agree. SO WHY HASN'T THE PRESIDENT DONE IT? Follow up: why doesn't any lefty care or hold him accountable?
Not only hasn't he done it, he hasn't even pretended that he is at all interested in the entire subject.

Obama has a D after his name, nothing to see there

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

So it's ok to not hold Obama accountable because Bush wasn't held accountable for fiscal irresponsibility either? Wow. You're in rich form today. I guess your mama never taught you that two wrongs don't make a right.

3 lefts do, though.

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Sure. The first thing he should have done was raise taxes to pay for Bush's mistakes. He couldn't do that though cause the economy was crap.
The next thing he should have done was repeal those programs. But, whoops, as Powell said you break it you own it and we all know once an entitlement passes it never goes away so that's out.
So, which part of the budge was he supposed to cut.

The two biggest pies are SS/Medicare and the Military.

He can't get any of that through this Congress.

So, what did HE ACTUALLY DO. Simple, he never passed unfunded crap like Bush did. Do no harm. So, in light of that he's done all he can do and Bush took a baseball bat to the China shop.

You really want to blame someone, blame FDR. He passed all this crap in the first place and much like Obamacare I wish the hell he hadn't.

You are hopeless.

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

You are hopeless.

As hopeless as the budget?

Here's a balance. Abolish SS now. Take the 12% we pay in 6 for workers and 6 for the company and use it to pay off the debt. Once the debt is paid give the money back to the workers and the companies.

Wella, balanced budget. A budget Paul Ryan would surely love.

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Not sure what you're asking here. If its what happens beyond 10 years, that's all highly speculative at this point so I understand why the CBO prices most things over a 10 year horizon. I've worked for a couple of Fortune 500 companies in finance, and I've yet to see any division in either of them try to even hazard a guess beyond 5 years into the future.

When it takes more years of taxation in order cover fewer years of benefits in order to hit the 10-year budget neutrality goal, then the long-range forecast is going to be horrible. You know that, it doesn't take an MBA to see it.

So the exploding federal deficit under Obama just came from nowhere?

I know facts have a well known liberal bias, and you're on a roll and all....but exactly what exploding deficit are you talking about?

try googling federal budget deficit by year or any sort of similar variation. the numbers are at your fingertips if you take a moment to look. some people calculate it a little differently, but they all show the same general trend of an exploding national debt and massive annual budget deficits.

Ummm...because the knuckledraggers in Congress won't approve the tax changes. He is winding down the wars. Not sure what the holdup is on the Medicare changes or how difficult that would be to pass Congress.

Here's another fantastic money saving idea from the GOP.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/18/jack-kingston-school-lunch_n_4467711.html?1387398013

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) wants kids to learn early in life that there's no such thing as a free lunch. To make sure they absorb that lesson, he's proposing that low-income children do some manual labor in exchange for their subsidized meals.

On Saturday, Kingston, who is vying to be his party's nominee in Georgia's Senate race next year, spoke at a meeting of the Jackson County Republican Party about the federal school lunch program.

Under that program, children from families with incomes at or below 130 percent of the poverty line are eligible for free meals. Students from families with incomes between 130 percent and 185 percent of the poverty level can receive lunches at reduced prices.

But on Saturday, Kingston came out against free lunches, saying that children should have to pay at least a nominal amount or do some work like sweeping cafeteria floors.

"But one of the things I’ve talked to the secretary of agriculture about: Why don’t you have the kids pay a dime, pay a nickel to instill in them that there is, in fact, no such thing as a free lunch? Or maybe sweep the floor of the cafeteria -- and yes, I understand that that would be an administrative problem, and I understand that it would probably lose you money. But think what we would gain as a society in getting people -- getting the myth out of their head that there is such a thing as a free lunch," he said.

Awesome. Next step is to put them back in the sweat shop and not even send them to school. More financial savings.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Lisa wants to get on evening news to do an editorial, so she takes a position against Question 3 - which turns out to be a proposal to give discounted bus fair to war widows.

So, when she gets on TV and is announced by Kent Brockman as arguing against the proposal, Homer mutters "stupid mooching war widows". Looks like Rep Kingston (who's running for Senate) didn't get the joke. ;)

Table 1.1, the top link within the page: http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals/

The figures are split between on-budget and off-budget expenditures and cash receipts.

try googling federal budget deficit by year or any sort of similar variation. the numbers are at your fingertips if you take a moment to look. some people calculate it a little differently, but they all show the same general trend of an exploding national debt and massive annual budget deficits.

So since 2010 was the first "Obama" budget, explain to me again how he is responsible for exploding it?

Looking at the available charts on deficit numbers, it appears that the gross federal deficit as % of GDP increased dramatically under Reagan/Bush I. Then Clinton reversed the trend significantly (surplus!?). Under Bush II, the debt escalates again similar to the rate during Reagan/Bush I, then goes up like a bottle rocket before he leaves office. The rate Bush II left continues under Obama or abates slightly.

Am I at sea?

He's responsible for continuing the explosion. He could have discontinued Bush's practices, but he chose to continue them instead.

Really?

So, he could have abolished two wars, the precipitous drop of the economy, NCLB, and Medicare Prescription D the minute he took office?

That's fantasyland.

Gotta dispute this as well. Obama wound down two wars that would have kept going at a much stronger pace had Bush been allowed a 3rd term. Hell, both McCain and Romney went public in their campaigns criticizing Obama for pulling all US troops out of Iraq. Obama also bargained for more cuts to the defense budget than the rest of the discretionary budget. There is zero chance the Bush/Cheney crowd would have EVER cut defense.

Obama raised taxes back up for upper income people as well, also reversing a Bush policy.
