I have posted this before but it is still relevant:

George Carlin said:
“Now, there's one thing you might have noticed I don't complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The Public Sucks. ***** Hope.”

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

President Obama has announced a huge deal with Iran to freeze it's nuclear program.

In a related story, John Boehner just came out in favor of the Iranian nuclear program.

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

If it cuts off likely path to a bomb this is a huge deal. I have my doubts but lets hope it works

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

Netan-boohoo, of course wagging his finger at the US and reminding everyone Israel isn't bound by the terms of the deal. I wish Israeli leadership would know when to just shut its mouth and act more subtly sometimes, rather than fanning the flames.

Why would they? It's what gets them support.

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

So the GOP would rather we used to "nuclear option" to turn Iran into a parking lot.

Interesting observation on twitter today: Liberals tend to protest for peace, the GOP protests for war.

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

When Reagan signed a disarmament deal with our enemies (who, you know, actually had bombs at their disposal) knuckledraggers wanted to put him on Mount Rushmore. When Obama signs a deal with our enemies....its part of some grand plot to distract from Obamacare! I'm not kidding, the #2 guy in the Senate actually said that. :D

Any wonder why the GOP Congress has a 9% approval rating?

Regarding Israel, if they want to take action against Iran, be my guest. Nobody's stopping them so I'm not sure what Netanyahu is crying about.

Its funny because we all know it could happen :D

Remember the way Congressional Democrats came out and criticized Reagan for making the deal? No? Wonder why that is...

Here at Rover Nation, we always appreciate good humor, even if its at our own expense! This is in contrast with our conservative friends, who are almost always humorless stiffs. ;)

Anyway, in an article covering the Iran nuke deal, somebody posted a comment saying "President Obama: If you like your Uranium Enrichment Program, you can keep it". I thought that was pretty funny. :D

Third quarter economic numbers are out

Seems inconclusive, if you ask me. A significant amount of that excess growth was in inventory, while actual growth in domestic consumer demand is still lagging. Plus there was that lovely little bipartisan family feud back in October that will probably sink the Q4 numbers a bit, and a good chunk of the hiring in Q4 will be temporary retail labor for the holidays. So I wouldn't pop open the champagne just yet. However, some positive news is better than none at all.

I'm going to assume businesses have some sense of demand for the inventory build up that they're engaging in, so I feel pretty good. 3.6% is nothing to sneeze at, and I'll point out growth has consistantly been revised upwards over the year. IIRC at the start of the year predictions were more like in the 1% range.

Another reason for easing off on austerity. Killing growth is the worst thing that we could do right now.

This seems like it could be the commentary for nearly every quarter in the last 3 years.
