For putting the country into this semi-shutdown situation, there's really not any debate in that it's the Republicans who are at fall. However, for choosing which programs to fund and which to put on hiatus, that's almost entirely on the Obama regime's shoulders.

Of course Obama is using the shutdown to his own political purposes regarding what and how he shuts or doesn't shut various things down.

Well, I say almost entirely because there are certain things that have to continue receiving funds. After those few things, then it's all on the Obama regime to make decisions. It's clear they want to inflict pain unto as many people as they can. It's the most childish thing to do, but there you have it.

Partial funding = GOP scheme that Dems didn't fall for.

It works pretty simply. We'll fund NIH, Defense, Vets, Parks, etc etc...and then oops, no money left for healthcare!

This is Ted Cruz thinking he's the smartest guy in the room with this "master plan" that didn't even fool Harry Freakin' Reid. If you can't outsmart Harry Reid, its time to do something else for a career.

There's a way out of this. Fund the government. If not the Boner needs to be deposed from his role as Speaker. Personally I'd rather see Paul Ryan in there. If he makes a deal, I have more faith he can bring his membership along than I do of Impotent Speaker Boner.

Yes, yes, yes, we all should be outraged at Obama. If only he would cut the parts of government we want cut and not the other parts we want open.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Maybe the GOP should run somebody other than Romney? Then maybe Obamacare would already be repealed and after the Dems shutdown the government they can all show us how big they are by loving cancer patients and keeping overlooks in Arizona open. All while balancing the farm bill by cutting food stamps instead of the huge subsidies to corporate farmers.

Man this discussion angle is beyond hilarious.

I'm always amused by Republican soul searching after they lose elections. Does anybody at HQ ever think that maybe its what they stand for that the public doesn't like? Fundamentally that's the problem. As the 80's are long since over, people don't want Talibanesque social policies shoved down their throat nor do they think giving the Kardashians an even bigger tax break will stimulate the economy. What becomes more and more clear every day is that they don't even stand for their own budget number. This whole debacle they created is AFTER the Democrats caved and gave them the Ryan budget number which is over 70 BILLION dollars less than what the Democrats wanted (what Obama had in his budget proposal that some clown on here still insists doesn't exist).

They could have declared victory 6 months ago and we had none of this BS going on.

I know the Democrats are screwed up. But, what I can't understand is how anyone can vote for clowns that lie about what they're going to do when they get into office. The number one issue that has created legislation nationwide (state and federal) since Bone Man started screaming jobs, jobs, jobs, isn't jobs bills it's anti-abortion bills and anti-voter bills.

Meanwhile they shutdown the government over something that was CLEARLY a referendum the last Presidential election. An election THEY decided to nominate Mitt Romney for. Why? No one knows.

And we still have no Farm Bill.

I think we can clearly state that the minority in this country has a lot of power. Power that clearly wasn't wielded while Bush was in office, sadly.

Out here in AZ, I'm hearing that Obama had the national park folks not only shut down the Grand Canyon park, but block off all pull off overviews where there is nothing but a small parking lot and a view, apparently just to try to make things a little more painful. The pulloffs are directly on roads into and out of the Canyon that are still open and there's no park personnel involved with those pullouts. No reason to do such a thing other than spite and to try to stir up anger about the partial shutdown.

Is it just me, or is the federal government spending even more money during this "shutdown", because of the money it takes to enforce all of this?

"Let them be on record with their vote as to if they want the government to remain shut down." Yea they would never do that, anyone with a "no" vote to reopening wouldn't be coming back next election.

I heard reports of rogue camping, wouldn't be surprised if they got arrested for trespassing.
