Are you implying the gif should have shown the guy’s head being decapitated?
That would be gruesome...
Well, i said that the republican party has gradually moved further and further away from me. Don't think i said I'd vote republican once Trump is gone - but i always try to evaluate candidates based on the person and position not the party.I would say you're more center than center-left, as you said yourself you voted for Republicans in the past, before they abandoned your shared positions. I have never said you're Republican. You also said you'd vote for Republicans again once Trump and Trumpism is gone.
I think that is somewhat my point - disagreement is not the same as discussion - telling each other to fuck off and putting people on ignore indicates there is no desire to listen and understand another point of view - thats an echo chamber. As for the echo chamber, this place is hardly an echo chamber. I've been labeled a blue MAGA, VBNMW. There were two Democrats telling each other to fuck off just last week. Plenty of disagreement in here. I think it's wonderful. I can discern between the positions on this website. Just because you can't, doesn't mean it's not occuring.
Fair enough - just as I'm not wrong either for preferring more moderate / center left candidates.I understand your point. I just disagree with it. My argument is if the wave is big enough right now for Democrats this fall, let's get some further left candidates into office who can push for bigger reconciliation bills that will have a larger effect for a larger amount of time. The American people won't make the connection anyways, and they'll vote for Republicans to tear it all down again in 2030, whether it's a moderate Democrat sitting in the seat, or a DSA-like Democrat. If El-Sayed wins in November, he's going to advocate for bigger reconciliation bills than Peters, and as a far-left Democrat, I like that. If you don't, it's not because I'm wrong, it's because you don't want as big of reconciliation bills as I do.
I agree - the last Republican i voted for was Charlie Baker - and a big part of that was that desire for balance in a state that is dominated by democrats. (Plus, i think he did a very good job as Mass governor.).... that's also why i would usually vote for a Democrat for senate in MA - i mean, if MA is sending republicans to the senate there certainly will be no balance. If i were in Vermont, I'd probably be one of the people who split their ticket. It is well-documented that federal elections are treated differently by voters than state elections. What you say about voters wanting balance at the state level is true, but it doesn't necessarily hold true at the federal level.
Fair enough - i'm not on the ground there so i'll take your word for it, but it just seems that there are enough cases where "the other" party wins the Governorship in both red and blue states. And - seeing that Trump won in 2024 in Kentucky with 64% of the vote and Beshar in 2023 with 53% there must have been at least a few people who voted for both of them.As for the Kentucky race you cite, Andy Beshear won by 4 more points in 2023 than 2019 with 30,000 fewer votes, which means Republicans couldn't be bothered to show up for a suave black man on Election Day. There was no crossover. Republicans simply stayed home. It doesn't apply. There's a reason I voted no on an amendment to changing our Gov. races to coincide with federal elections, because I know any Democrat would get smoked with all the Trump trash who shows up on federal election days versus forgetting there's an election in an odd-numbered year.
Possibly correct, but your gamble is losing the middle over time if the Democratic party continues to move further and further left.At the end of the day, our donor-class side of the party will cater to you until you leave us for "moderate" Republicans again, if it can ever be said in the next 25 years that a Republican who remained one throughout the MAGA years can become "moderate" again when kowtowing so spectacularly to all of this fucking disgusting bullshit. Thom Tillis is a spineless bitch. Susan Collins is a spineless bitch. Those are your "moderates", continuing to pave the way. The Republican Party continues to move further right, and has since the 1960s, accelerating in the 80s and beyond. The moderates are voting for Democrats now, people like you who pulls our party right and says moderation is correct. I just don't see who or what force within the GOP is going to bring them back to the middle in any way, shape, or form as they all are so far-right on even the cultural issues now.
Andrews needs to take this statement and run with it. But, as we have seen a lot over the last few years, Democrats have been very inept in messaging....."My parents were workaholics, never took my brother and me on a vacation, continued to work even when they got sick and died when I was 11 and yours should too" is a hell of a campaign slogan.
That sums up *every* right leaning argument ever."I had a shitty experience, so you should too" really is the right's ultimate argument. It conveniently feeds on the jealousy of poor people.
She did on one of the 24 hour “news” networks already. Said something like “I believe Darline’s parents deserved better.”Andrews needs to take this statement and run with it. But, as we have seen a lot over the last few years, Democrats have been very inept in messaging.....
And the right will spin that as "condescending" and "insulting" to "hardworking people".She did on one of the 24 hour “news” networks already. Said something like “I believe Darline’s parents deserved better.”
The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Not really a fan of the people behind the Lincoln Project but by all means, go right ahead
I'm not a fan of anyone in power OR around Washington because they were all complicit in the Orange Baboon getting elected TWICE.Not really a fan of the people behind the Lincoln Project but by all means, go right ahead
