She has a safe seat in Congress and already lost to Susie in 2002. (But) The Dems might consider she has a base of strength to run from, has the name recognition to challenge and we live in a Coke can district so whoever the Dems name to replace Chellie on the ballot will win CD1 comfortably.

Jackson is a former president of the Maine state senate. That should appeal to plenty of insiders. Mills is obviously cancer.

Notsomuch. He is one of those evil socialists who believes in raising wages, protecting worker rights and taxing the wealthy. Insiders like Mills because she has been happy to sell out the poor (my mom lost her MaineCare despite being 82 with a lousy heart and broken back) to protect billionaires and corporations. The death blow to her senate campaign was her veto of a proposed moratorium on data centers.

If Maine is anything like every other state, there are plenty of party insiders who are democratic socialists. Just like we out in the world, they are fighting a rearguard action against the corporate swine. If they have a credible candidate who knows the ropes and has a network of IOUs, now's the time to call them in.
Parties are just as heterogeneous as constituencies. There are very good people who are getting slaughtered by the donor class and are looking for the chance to bite the hand that feeds the party while eviscerating any Left policies. Now's the time.
The Maine Dem party needs a revolution but if effective that will come from within from the core who both has unimpeachable values but also knows what the fuck they are doing. The transition the DNC failed to do under Obama.

Troy Jackson is in.
If the DNC hadn't run interference for Janet Mills last year he might have gotten into this race a year ago and would already be our nominee.
I don't know if I'll be a delegate to the convention or not. They have not released details. If it is the same people who served as delegates earlier this year I won't be among them as I was unable to attend caucus or the convention. If they open it up and put the convention some place other than Bangor I'll probably be a delegate.
