2023 Women's Pro Hockey Offseason: New League? Defections?

Might be a stupid question but where is the PHF getting all this money for some of these high salaries and high salary cap for each team? I believe all the contracts are USA$ too.

The owners of the teams. The revenue is supported by their ESPN+ deal and other sponsorships and partnerships.

Currently, a few goalie spots are left in the PHF and Sweden’s SDHL. Meanwhile, the PWHPA already includes ~6 or more goalies who’d fit in as the main starters for that association’s 6 projected teams. The Hockey News and The Ice Garden have had good updates about these and other goalies.

Among SDHL goalies with 2023-24 signing destination “Unknown” on elite prospects, the top starters are (listed with their seasons in the league and date of their release):

Other tidbits for pro leagues: Toronto hinted that a player whose name (initials) resemble a “television” is probably their next returner. And Jennifer Wakefield and Alena Mills are two of the highest-scoring forwards in the SDHL whose signing destination is “Unknown” on elite prospects.

A few signings so far this week:
Tereza Vanišova (F, Strakonice, CZ - Team Czechia) returning to Toronto Six for one year, 6/19
Lovisa Berndtsson (G, Stockholm, SE) returning to Buffalo Beauts for one year for $44k, 6/20
Franziska Feldmeier (F, Munich, DE - ESC Planegg, Team Germany) with Linkoping for one year, 6/21
and Breanne Wilson-Bennett (F, Markham, ON) returning to Toronto for one year, 6/21

Some recent international player signings in Sweden:
- SDE signed Karolina Kosinova (D, Team Czechia).
- Rogle in the second Swedish league signed young star Arwen Nylaander (F, Team Slovenia).

PHF: Natalie Snodgrass (F, Eagan, MN) stays with Minnesota for 2 years (Rink Live story). She was the top-scoring PHF free agent left from 2022-23 after Emma Woods re-signed with Toronto. Buffalo signed rookie Lauren MacInnis (D, St. Louis, MO). (Beauts press release) She's coming from Salzburg (EWHL) and Frolunda (Sweden).
