2022 - 2023 Season BOSTON COLLEGE

Kuntar should return given that Cutter is coming back along with a stacked freshman class. He would have his best season and he could become a free agent. If he can’t burn off one year of his entry level contract next month there is no sense for him to sign with the Bruins now.

Go Eagles!

Bruins only have one contract keft
and I think they will use it on Lohrei. Zero chance Kuntar burns a year as he wouldn’t make that roster.

I have used Michigan and Minnesota as examples but they seem to have figured out the roster construction dilemma over the last couple years. It looks to me like Pandolfo is on a similar path. BU does have a lot of seniors so we will have to see on that next year but they should be good again.

Michigan has 12 freshmen on that roster. Incredible wealth of talent with Fantilli, McGroarty, TJ Hughes, etc. then add sophomore Luke Hughes, Samoskevich (1st round NHL pick).

Where was the one contract left reported? Just curious.

If Pecknold's assessment is correct i would imagine Lohrei gets that contract as insurance for the playoff run.

Let's be honest here. Trevor Kuntar does not project as an NHLer to me. Come back and have a great senior year like McBain/McLaughlin. The only thing we can't know is if there's a scholarship crunch and Brown would like to see him move on.

Agreed with a lot of what has been said.

Good news on Ambrosio, and yes it really does seem like he can reach another level and just hasn't yet. You'd hope to see him put together a season like Chris Collins had as a senior (you could see it coming on his junior year more than I'd say with Ambrosio) or even something we got from Austin Cangelosi.

Kuntar... nice greasy college player. I don't see him making much of a splash on the NHL level but some guys surprise you and maybe it's him. Could be spending a LONG time in Providence. Being on next year's team could increase his value and give him options via free agency (plus the current Bruins' 50-contract problem). Stay and get the BC degree, duh! He's a monster faceoff guy too so that's going to translate in a lot of ways for next year's team if he sticks around which he absolutely should do. A senior year at BC or a year taking a bus across the AHL? No brainer.

For the contract stuff, I saw someone mention it on Twitter and I went and checked, it looks right on them having 49 players under contract

as for Kuntar, I agree. He’ll need to take another big step in his development and change his game pretty significantly if he wants to be an everyday NHLer. It’s been done before but doesn’t look likely. I doubt he stays but it’d be in his best interest to do so I think anyways

the scholarship stuff is always weird because there are so many partials and 1 and 1s, it’s really hard to know where they’re at. I’d like to see hockey go up to 22 scholarships, I think you’d see more kids stay longer and even more talent in college

Marshall Warren in portal. I realize Brown probably tight on scholarships, but wish we could have created space for Warren.

Ya I think Bengtsson took the spot Warren may have been able to have. Thought he would have signed but he’ll land on his feet somewhere. Go get a masters in business somewhere. Could see him landing at Michigan State

There was a clip from right before senior night with Warren saying he was going to miss this place. So this must have been worked out a while ago. Based on what I have read about Bengtsson being a top sought after undrafted player it might be as simple as he is a better all around player than Warren. Even then I feel like most of these 5 year players use that 5th year elsehwere. It's possible Warren looked at his pro options and didn't love them. If Brown was operating under the assumption he wasn't coming back then your hands are tied. It's also quite possible he simply wants a different experience. He's not really a top pairing guy but he's a very good piece.

I wondered about Warren sticking around, really a good player and seems like a well rounded guy who would be good in the locker room. He will wind up in a good spot, sorry to see him go.

Jake Sondreal -Dubuque forward 5’11’ 170 11 g/23 a Commits to BC. His coach describes him as a playmaker with skill. Came on strong in second half of season. Minnesota kid.

For anyone who might be interested, I created a spreadsheet in google sheets tracking all the recruiting for BC hockey. If you'd like to have access to it, feel free to send me your gmail in a dm or follow me on twitter (@Marshmont_63) and send me a dm there. I update the spreadsheet all the time and have grown it to include various tabs on anything I find interesting related to the program and/or individual seasons/stats. I love following and tracking college hockey recruiting in general. I hardly ever post here, but I always read the threads. Anyways, if you'd like a comprehensive look at future rosters and recruits, feel free to reach out. Can't wait for next season with that monster recruiting class coming in!

Warren going into the portal was a surprise to me. I didn’t think he had as good of a senior season compared to his junior season. Perhaps, it was due to having 3 freshman on defense.

I think GB is going to bring in bigger defenseman. I see BU trending that way as well with their latest recruits. It’s good to have a couple of smaller more offensive defenders, but in our best days we had some big defenseman that were offensively talented as well.

I agree with everything said about Kuntar. He should return, have a great senior year and become a free agent. He will have 31 other teams to look at to see what is the best situation for him to make an NHL roster.

Go Eagles!

Capfriendly has the Bruins with 49 contracts. You can only have 50 so that leaves one player they can sign. I don't see Kuntar as that option when Lohrei looks like a far superior prospect at this time.

No knock on Kuntar is one of my favorite players, lots of grit and energy, the kind of guy you want on your team and you hate if he is on the other team. He is not an NHL player today or tomorrow. He may get there but he would be best off playing at BC next year and it sounds like he will given the circumstances.

Dempsey in the portal as expected. Liam Izyk found a good spot where he should get decent playing time at Bentley.

Kuntar signed. I would think they are in the market for a portal forward now. They are set in goal and defense for next year.

Suprising signing. I wonder if Lohrei didnt want to sign as the Kuntar signing has Bruins contracts maxed out.

I just read that while Kuntar signed, his contract doesn't technically kick in till next year so that means the Bruins can still sign Lohrei. Now as for what that means for Kuntar I have no idea. Does that mean he can't play any pro games until next year? Who the hell knows.
