2021-22 UVM Catamounts

Lisa T thanks for keeping the Vermont thread going - if it wasn't for you it would definitely not exist. It's been a nice year for Vermont so far.

7 in a row - ties the program record.
14 wins in HE - breaks the program record.
One win shy of the program record for total wins in a season and Maude is single handedly rewriting the record books herself. Schafzahl would probably have the career points mark if not for COVID, too.

Exciting times in Catamount Country.

Olympics start tonight! UVM women has 5.5 representatives at this year's tournament.... the .5 is because one (Škodova) is an alternate who's just there in case of emergency.

Kolowrat (alum), Mlynkova, and Patkova for the Czechs, Karjalainen for Finland, and it was announced by the program today that they've signed Sofie Skott Dahl of Denmark. (Dahl isn't the only Dane with Vermont connections, btw; Nicoline Jensen started her career at Castleton before transferring to UNH. Shoutout @VTSHIC on that catch because I would've easily missed it.)

Czechs play China at 11:10 PM tonight, Finland opens play against the US at 8:10 AM tomorrow morning. Think it's fair to say most of Catamount Country should be on the Czech bandwagon!

I see Schafazl scored again. What a weapon. On the other side Kuoppala is also underrated. I did take a look at Maude's statscand they are impressive for a d.

Shots were only 9-7, but I thought the Catamounts really had the better of play in the first period and looked really good. Giving up the 2nd goal to BU immediately after scoring late in the first really took the sheen off and hurt bad.

BU wins 4-3.

One of the most entertaining games I've watched all year, whether UVM-involved or as a neutral. Very back and forth.

UVM clinches the two seed, Schafzahl is pretty much guaranteed to break Pelkey's single season records, tied the goal and point marks today. Such a fun team.

"A very hard-fought game tonight by two teams playing with playoff intensity," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "Credit to BC for consistently coming back and not letting us be comfortable. Jessie McPherson was huge for us and we got some highlight reel goals from Shanahan, Schafzahl, and Poulin-Labelle. This team has earned everything they've gotten and it's a different era when we are able to win a season series against BC. One of our goals this season was to finish in second place and I am so proud of everyone in our program for making that a reality. It's taken a village for us to get to this point and I am excited to see how far we can go in the playoffs."

2PM Eastern today again vs BC

Vermont, down 2-0 to BC all game, scores their 2nd of the third period to tie the game 2-2 with 9 minutes to go.
