2021-22 UVM Catamounts: Cats Gone Global

Thanks Catamounts! That was unexpected, but really appreciated (Merrimack fan here). You played my Warriors really tough, and glad you came up big tonight.

Well that was fantastic last night. Right from the puck drop you could see a different team out there (than this past weekend). This was a very tight hard fought college game. Every inch of ice was contested. We came to battle and our FC was outstanding. We spent alot of time grinding along the boards - cycling - and battling for loose pucks. NU had 14 shots after 2 periods and 22 for the game with 3-4 coming in last few minutes with goalie pulled. As Todd said special teams was a huge factor (1/3 on PP, and 2-2 on the PK). Up and down the lineup everyone was on the same page doing all the little things to help in the victory. I'm hoping this effort is there this weekend, and then into play-down round of playoffs. Team was pumped up after the victory - saluting the fans around the rink. Coming out of the locker-room they were pumped looking for family and friends. Harmon had a Cinderella moment with final home game shutout.

Yeah, you've gotta feel real happy for Harmon. Sat on the bench behind Stef for 3 years, then last year UVM barely played (+ no fans) and this season Gabe was just flat-out way better, but he finally gets his moment in the sun.

Finish the season strong and give us a good platform for next season. All I'm asking.

Preparing to have my left pinky lopped off! Didn’t watch any of the game last night, but it looks like we were absolutely annihilated! I don’t know, too early for concern? Do the Woodcroft Cats seem to play better on the road? Rebuilding takes time, but was honestly hoping for a little more by this point.

Barring an epic choke job by BU, your left pinky will remain intact. If that score holds UVM is locked into the 10 spot.

Yes winning streak of 2. All I have to go on is the box score - but Harmon again gets the win. UVM down 3-2 in 2nd period and then scored last 3 of game. Porter S. (2G, 1A) has been playing some good hockey the last month or so. Starting to come into his own, becoming more of a presence on the ice. Nice to see Maata (1G, 1A) also get on the scoring sheet. Two freshman who I hope continue to develop and contribute into the future.

I'll point out not only 2 wins, but 2 wins against top 20 ranked teams. Additionally both NU and UCONN are playing for alot right now with NCAA pairwise and HE playoff positioning at stake. I spoke to a few NU players the other night who did not suit up and they knew what was on the line and NU were really hoping to take it to the Cats to help them secure #2 position in standings.

Right time of year to be playing their best hockey of the year.

They played quite well last night, but not 100% the whole game, however they didn't give up.

I said at the beginning of the season that they wouldn't finish last. Now here is something to think about, if we had won all the league games that we lost by one goal, we'd be tied for second. I know that is a big if, but....

I hope they can win this afternoon, though UCONN will be out for revenge. Hope they play 100% the whole game.

Good for you guys...yep...it's a slim margin for sure...best wishes going forward you other 'Cats!

According to radio broadcast after Saturdays game, UVM headed to Boston area for two nights. Then today headed to Providence for Mon/Tue nights in preparation for Wednesday's preliminary round. School vacation week back at UVM so Todd wanted team to avoid back forth on interstates and do a little more bonding/focus time for the game. I'm sure they lined up rinks and were on the ice as well. Hopefully this is a positive move and helps the team in the playoff game.
