And two big non-conference road trips when the travel to Hamilton, NY in late October to face Colgate, then on Thanksgiving weekend for the "Smashville Showcase" in Nashville where they will open up against Mercyhurst and then (hopefully) play the winner of BC and Colgate.

Wow real gauntlet there for Wisconsin huh alol

WI ran the gauntlet of all gauntlets last season. Everyone needs a little sweetness in their lives once an awhile, right? I'm guessing BC's schedule will land a diabetic in the hospital.

Speaking of sweetness, while UW and OSU duke it out the last weekend of the season, the rodents get the Tommiettes. And their other last 4 are against BSU and St. Cl St. I guess the schedule makers want to make sure the rodents are within striking distance at the end of the year.

How do people feel St Thomas will do
in the WCHA conference? Long season for them or will they be somewhat competitive? That’s a tough way to start a D1 program.

Any team joining the WCHA would expect to get crushed occasionally. That said, St. Thomas was a step above the other programs they competed against. I look for some very exciting games in St. Paul this next season, and I would be leery of betting St. Thomas finishes last.

I just don't know how they don't finish last. There has to be a talent gap that will take a few years to overcome. Maybe they can get a few players that would have gone to Ivies and poach a few who who have gone to the bottom 3 but want a metro lifestye.

So has anyone looked through the WCHA schedules yet to see who has the most interesting non conference games?
I only looked so far to see that Minnesota's only home NC series (RIT) was pretty lame. Way to fire up interest in the program with the fan base.

I like that OSU plays Penn State. I'm up for bragging rights over them!
I agree that games against Penn State carry added interest beyond games versus other CHA opponents. That would be especially true if the Nittany Lions continue to ascend.

If we ever get a B1G women's hockey conference it would be interesting indeed how competitive they could be by then.

Last season's numbers:

Penn State had an .850 win percentage. Ohio State had a .667 win percentage.
Penn State was 16-2-2. Ohio State was 11-5-0.
Penn State had 70 goals for, 29 goals against. Ohio State had 42 goals for, 32 goals against.

I'm no math whiz, but it looks to me like Penn State stacks up pretty well against the Buckeyes.

I'm going to counter Penn State doesn't have the likes of Duluth, Minnesota and Wisconsin in their conference to go up against. If you add a strength of schedule factor in there I think Penn State's percentage would drop considerably. Now I'm not disssing Penn State and we all know anyone can win on a given day but I think the odds are still in Ohio State's favor.

We would have had a chance to test that last season, if not for the bizarre selections made by the NCAA. Much as Minnesota was shafted, I think Penn State had their season end too early. But we have spent a lot of ink on this subject in another thread. Sorry to bring it up. Last season is best forgotten. (Sigh).
