2020 UVM offseason: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Made my first ever trip to Vermont for a couple days this past week. You have an amazingly beautiful city and the people are wonderful! Maybe one day I get there for hockey!

Can a UVM fan explain how Kaufman went from a team-high 21 points in '18-'19 to six points last season?

Kevin Sneddon has that effect on people. Been a common problem with former players over the last 6-7 years and hopefully a situation that is long in the past with Woodcroft onboard.

Jordan Kaplan from Sacred Heart is joining as a graduate transfer it appears: https://twitter.com/NEHockeyJournal/...86495568039936

It's also been reflected in the updated roster on the UVM website (is there anyone else who isn't on there that wasn't previously covered too?): https://uvmathletics.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/roster

24 points last year...which was more than any UVM player last season. https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe.../jordan-kaplan

According to the SHU team page there are 6 or 6 players ahead of him.

Wow...lead story on USCHO.com is about Kevin (I went to 'Hahvard' and literally drove the UVM Hockey program into the ground) Sneddon! Let's place our bets on his post-UVM career -- surely he will spread better hockey to the U.S.A. Hope he makes some money?! #Embarrassing.

Thanks to Chris Zimmerman UVM will be the host school for the 2025 Frozen Four in St.Louis.
What odds will you give me on the team being there?

Andrew Lucas is the captain for next season. Off the board pick but I'd imagine Woody wanted someone who was gonna be here a while to help set the culture.

Wow, didn’t know that. That’s pretty cool! Given where the team is right now, I’d have to say the chances are slim to none. However, the 2025 FF will be at the culmination of Woodcroft’s 5th season as coach, so I’d like to think we’re going to be significantly better. Realistically, I’d put the odds at 5-10%. Hopefully when I’m making this same prediction in the summer of 2024, I’ll be able to put the odds higher.

I'm honestly lowkey pretty excited for this season. I know we're not going to be good. But we have new faces and fresh ideas, and frankly the weirdness of this year takes even more pressure off. Remember: BC was 11-22-2 in York's first season, Maine in Walsh's was 12-29-1, and UMass in Carvel's was 5-29-2. It won't get better overnight, it's about the direction.

It's going to be a process, the pain of a rebuild is real. I'm not worried about results this year, or even next. Just strive to get better every day, and give us a team and culture that we can be proud of, win or lose.

Side note, Divver had a few Woody quotes on Babcock today:

I'm looking forward to seeing how the change in direction and culture affects this team. Woodcroft maybe an unconventional pick, but I'm excited to see how that plays out. The test in my view will be in HIS recruits over the next few seasons. Identifying talent was one of his purported strengths. Hopefully that holds true. Really hoping for a more offensive style of play as well, it kills me to agree with the BC fans, but Sneddon's defensive nature didn't make for exciting teams to watch.

Freshman Dovar Tinling was given a "B" rating on NHL Central Scouting's preliminary Players to Watch list. Indicates a 2nd/3rd round candidate.
