After a second place finish in the WCHA and advancing to the WCHA semifinals, the Beavers will look to build on that success with a lot of the team coming back. They only lost three seniors and two transfers (as of right now), while bringing in six recruits. They will have a challenging schedule ahead of them with 28 league games, 7 non-conference games and one exhibition.

Excited to see Kyle Looft take the next step in his game!

Re: 2020-21 Bemidji State Beavers-Continue Last Year's Success

Simi Valley, California native Ethan Somoza has been named the 2020-21 Captain. He is the first Californian to be named a Beaver Captain.

Big series this weekend with Mankato. Gotta take at least one here after the split last weekend.

I totally forgot I had started this thread. Thanks for bumping it up!

Yes, big weekend for the Green. They did not play well in their one game with Mankato in Bemidji, found the offense in the first game against Tech, but then lost it all in the second game. I am hoping the Beavers are not having a Jeckyl and Hyde type season.

So far has been a bit of a disappointing season (maybe my expectations were too high based on last year) but maybe the win last night will put us into another great post holiday break stretch.

This season is going to be hard to guage and there is no real time to "find" yourselves. Against BG, they hung in both games with a top 10 ranked team that had five extra games under their belts.

Up next is Huntsville at home, who just swept Ferris in Huntsville. Not sure what that says about Ferris....

Another big win for the Beavers today! Sweep and now three straight wins over the #6 team in the country. More what I expected from this team this year. Now go to work on the rest of the WCHA

It is just too bad these were non-conference games. Still, I think this team has turned the corner!

BSU's conference series this upcoming weekend with Lake Superior State has been postponed due to LSSU's COVID. BSU has picked up a non-conference game with Mankato in Bemidji on Friday at 4:07 (a make up from the Nov 23 game that was postponed due to Mankato's COVID).

Am I missing something. Mankato, BGSU and Tech all get 3 conference points for a win but Alabama and Bemidji only get 2. That sounds like a nacho move.

This year, once the game reaches overtime, the winning team gets 2 points and the losing team receives 1 point. When Bemidji beat BG in overtime, BSU got two points and BG got 1. The same with the game between Alabama Huntsville and Ferris State.

Would have to think BSU will be in the top 20 after the convincing victory over Mankato today. Keep it rolling Beavs!

What is this? Drop two games to NMU at home (Tech goes 4-0 against NMU), then we go to Tech and win 4-1. Injuries? Parity?

Congrats Beavers!

It's college hockey. That's how the game is played. If you pencil in a winner just by looking at the standings, you'll be left scratching your head more often than not.

Those two games were a master class in how to stay solid and let the other team beat themselves. Bemidji punished every mistake and did a textbook job of shutting down scoring chances on the other end.

Tech is a team of flat-track bullies this year, padding their win total on the weak with 8 total against Ferris and UAH. Bemidji seems to almost be the opposite with so many wins against good teams but stumbling against the others.
