2019 cycling season

Re: 2019 cycling season

It will be really interesting to see if Sky can compete with their top guy out. Glad he will be ok, but maybe we'll get a competitive race for a change.

It will be interesting with Froome and DuMoulin out, haven't heard about Thomas but even before he crashed in the Tour De Suisse I had doubts he'd be able to avoid crashing for two tours in a row. I guess the favorite now is TJ :D

Re: 2019 cycling season

I'm posting this because I'm sick of being run by Drivers. Drivers texting, not paying attention, or trying on purpose to scare me. It's gotten to the point where I avoid the public roads as much as I can. I try to ride in parks or paths, but you can only do so much and it's hard on a path to go very fast. So I still ride the roads, but man it's out of control. I'm contemplating going gravel and quitting road bikes. Except I like road bikes and I don't really like gravel all that much. so.... now I'll get off my soapbox.

I was always more of an off road guy but i agree. Yeah the texting and driving / distracted drivers have made me kind of not enjoy being on the road and I am pretty much exclusively mountain biking now.

Re: 2019 cycling season

Man Soooo exciting. I think Aliphilippe has a real chance and Thomas blowing up? I would have never thought that. Movistar is toast now I think, I wonder what they do from here on.

Seems like a few more of the cycling fans are off the board now. Either way, TDF 2022 started this morning. INteresting to see it in Denmark. I haven't had a chance to really follow it as much the last few years but hoping to return to watching again this year.

Stage 11 features one of my favorite climbs, an absolutely beautiful, stunning mountain pass, incredibly steep as well. The Lacets de Montvernier.

Oh wow. What a shot. I'll mark my calendar for that one. The chopper pilot is going to have a lot of fun with that.

What maniacal fiend builds a road up a mountain like that? That's just crazy.

That had to have been some old goat path from 2000 years ago that they paved over.

That’s just the way the Alps are - there are hundreds of such roads, if slightly less dramatic. If they didn’t build roads like that, they’d be hardly any roads at all.

Yeah, but that's nuts even for the Alps. That cliffside just goes straight up.

Boston's roads seem just as non-sensical coming from the Midwest's grid pattern, lol....

But yea, that was probably a foot path that originated in like 738 A.D....

Its great having the commentating talent back on ground (vs virtual). Bob Roll sporting a new look.

Cobbles next week!

I haven't even looked at the course this year. So out of practice!

love me some cobble action as much as the riders hate it.
