So if I have this figured right these girls just finished their freshman year of high school and they are committing to a college already. They haven't even started to drive yet!

That is correct! Schools are pushing the girls to commit earlier and earlier. Its a race to the bottom.

Wethington to Minnesota correct?

Did BC get a couple of Freshman also?

Re: 2019-2020 Division 1 Commitments

But if the women start stockpiling commitments like the men, it makes a mess of the whole recruiting process.
It seems to me that the move to earlier commitments could have the unexpected result of bringing more parity to women's hockey, since inevitably some of the 14 year olds who commit to the top programs will not turn out the be the top 18 year olds.

I think this is unlikely as the top schools will decommit to 14 year old players who don't continue to perform at the top of the market when they are 16 and 17 year olds. Happens all the time on the boys side. Heck, it happens now on the girls side.

Re: 2019-2020 Division 1 Commitments

Is Colgate's plan to load up early and hope they stick before the big 4 move in on them? What's the rush to commit to anywhere but UW, UM, BC or UH?

Re: 2019-2020 Division 1 Commitments

It's not like BC and UM are taking their time. They have commits in this class already.

No, but BC only has 2 and UM 1, UW 0 (out of 23), so that tells me the little sisters of the poor are trying to lock into players and hope it sticks. If I was a young lady of above average talent hoping for a D1 scholarship, I'd wait as long as possible for one of the big dogs to possibly take interest in me.

I understand your point but I'm sure the players are aware as to whether the big dogs are interested in them or not by this point. Also, for a place like Colgate, maybe these players are interested because it offers a better education than the UW/UM state schools.
