It’s only one period, but Bemidji is a lot better team right now. They played better than us 5 on 3, with a shorty to rub it in (I’ll admit they were pretty soft goals). Better wake up, and quickly.

I wouldn't go that far to say they are a "a lot better team" I would just say they have energy and showed up to play today.

Is this the same team that won GLI??

#5 spending six minutes in the sin bin has not helped.

Real disappointed, have the family here watching (UMD/ gopher fans) and we have fallen flat. There is no energy. Whole team is just hooking, grabbing, trying to hang on to something.

Well over and over again their guys cruised down the slot all alone. Most of the game was played in our end and we did not get to loose pucks first. Not a team who is looking to play in the post season. As the coach said, reading our press clippings too much.
You have to Give Bemidji credit they were able to turn us over a lot and a faceoff win in our end gave them two or three shots before we could go the other way. Once we got down there we got one shot and that's it.
I did think their goals were on the soft side, but you know we have to play better. We gave them chance after chance.

Press clippings ain’t too good. We are now firmly in 6th place in the WCHA. At risk of playing on the road,

Michigan Tech has certainly struggled with the other "Top 6" teams winning just 35% of the time...worst among the top 6 but they have 8 straight games after today against the bottom 4 which they're undefeated against. Hopefully they get the win tonight but ultimately playoffs position will be decided by that 8 game stretch against the bottom 4 while alot of the current 5 beat up on each other.

NOTE: As of right now MTU has the fewest # of games against the bottom 4 out of the top 6, all the rest have played at least 7 games against them while MTU only has 4...thats a huge difference in conference standings.

I can't see us getting by Mankato for the MacNaughton this year. And an at large bid is looking questionable.

at large bid is pretty much unlikely. gonna need someone to upset MSU to get 2 teams in from the WCHA, unless NMU beats Cornell today and wins most of their remaining games.

I certainly hope an at large bid is nowhere near the minds of the coaching staff nor the players at this point. Too many variables they cannot control need to fall right for them to get an at large bid. It is no longer in their hands so IMHO they need to work on what they can control. That is getting better today than they were yesterday and continue that trend throughout the WCHA schedule. Let the playoff pieces fall where they will. Hopefully they will peak at the right time.

If they take care of their own problems, they will have a decent seed in th he WCHA playoffs. If they are playing close to their potential, they can beat anyone in the league. They have a few weeks before then to get the right mindset and work out the problems. #GoTechGold

Horrible, turnover and we lose.

What is the story with Keegan Ford? Would be nice to get him back. I watched the game (BSU announcers), not sure what Dirk may have said.

I thought I heard hopefully next weekend?

That was also my takeaway, the D struggled this weekend. We also seem to be having only 1 of the 3 scoring lines going at a time.
The 4th line seems to get a lot of pucks on net with their work ethic.

This was one of those weekends where the intensity was just not there. Time to get back to it and use the rest of the grind to get back to their A game.

If they don't dominate Ferris at the Mac next weekend I'll be concerned.

I agree that the D struggled at times. We have had a couple of younger D really develop this year, and overall it’s still a young core and I think we are better than some of us thought we might be. (Ok, not saying much).

But getting two goals on the weekend is a serious problem. I see goal scorer’s in development. Most of our goals are from underclassmen, and I think the future looks great up front.

Looking forward, we lose Ford and Kiilunen at the end of the year and the Tech Recruiting guide shows no D, just three forwards coming up. I can see being ok next year on D with the current guys, but the following year we graduate four; Seamus, Rockwell, Meek and Watson. No freshmen D next year. There will be another huge gap in our experience and development.

Anyone see this different?

THG has Grant Docter and Evan Orr coming in next year. Both would still be 19 at the start of next season, so it's possible one or both could be deferred. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the only freshman defenseman next year is a late-bloomer who hasn't committed yet (like, say, Tim Erkkila, Ryan Dickinson or Jed Pietila, all of whom are from Brighton/Howell and have been nominated for NAHL defenseman of the month at least once this season). Ten defensemen on the roster is a good number.
