2018 WJC Relegation Game

Well, the 2018 WJC starts very soon.

Here are the groups:

A - USA, Canada, Denmark, Slovakia, Finland
B - Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belarus

The bottom team from each pool (after group play) is put into a best (worst?) of three Relegation Series.

The loser gets (you guessed it!) relegated down and rejoins the "IA" hockey powers.


Pick the two teams in the relegation series and who goes "IA" (i.e. loses the series).

I see an epic Denmark/Belarus three game series with Belarus relegated to IA.

No, just poor typing by me with cold hands. :(

(Did I mention I just brought in my garbage cans and it's still -16F here before the -36 wind chill? Yes, I had gloves, but just one pair. Normally like this I'll wear a thin glove with a leather chopper over it.)

It dropped below 30 here last night. Dr. Mrs. thinks that's Antarctica. She's cute.

RUS makes a bold move toward the Relegation Title by losing their opening pool play game to CZE* 5-4.


*That solves the whole Czech-whatever thing. ;)

We've now had the Czechs beat the Russians and the Slovaks beat the Americans. It's a good week to be an oily Bohunk. :)

Canada must be happy the Norwegians didn't make the tournament.
