Yup. The coronation will have to wait at least one more day. Sigh.

Give the Gophers credit for playing a good road game, though. They got opportunistic scoring, while seriously slowing down the Buckeyes in the neutral zone. Not the Gophers usual method of operation, but it worked for them tonight.

Well it may have worked for the best.
With the early start time the other games were still going on when ours ended so we wouldn't know to celebrate or not if we had won.
With a win tomorrow the confetti will be dropping from the ceiling for certain!

The other results came in to the good so they can still clinch on home ice tomorrow night with a win. Give minnesota credit they had a good game plan and stuck to it all night long. Ohio state never figured it out until the 3rd period and every time they got within a goal they took a dumb penalty or turned over the puck that led to a goal. I thought the penalty on Dakota was a joke he lifted the guys stick and did not touch his hands until the gopher moved his stick.

I couldn't believe Kearney tried to take a pointless shot at a guy and then launched off the ice into him! He usually knows better, especially near the end of a game when a stupid penalty will make it impossible to win.

Here's the good news!
With the title and first round bye we would have home ice actually at the Schott for all our games the entire B1G Tournament!
We would play at the Schott the Sunday after the first round. If we win we host the title game the next Sunday at the Schott. :D

Yup but they called charging he never moved. Im not arguing the penalty being called but its not charging if you never moved lol

Everything aligned for Ohio State last night except the beating Minny part. We can still wrap this up at home tonight.

Ohio State 41 points (potential max points at season's end 56)
Notre Dame (43) Magic# 3
Michigan (42) magic# 2
Psu (41) magic# 1
Sparty (36) magic# ELIMINATED
Wisconsin (40) magic# ELIMINATED
Minnesota (39) Magic# ELIMINATED

Can't back our way into the title over Michigan tonight though. We lose, and we need to finish business in AA next week. Still, even the 69 Cubs couldn't choke this away.

We certainly wouldn't get any love in AA winning the title up there. Both the team and the fans need and deserve this to happen tonight at home so both can give proper appreciation to the other!

It was a proper call.

Either taking three strides without gliding OR leaving your feet will get you a charging penalty. Learn the rules if you are going to mock them.

No need to be defensive, I agree it was the right call if you saw my earlier post. Even if he didn't leave his feet it would have been borderline at best how late contact was made after the puck was gone. I WILL say though Minnesota got off light on penalties that could have been called.

I thought the penalty was right just wasnt sure if you can call that charging or not. It was really dumb on his part either way.

Not being defensive. I was a good call regardless of the team.

It was a dumb penalty to take. You could argue the timing, but the aggression will get called every time.

We take 3 points tonight, and nothing that happens in South Bend or pedo valley will matter.

Cant start that slow against a good team and expect to come back. I have said for weeks Minnesota is the most dangerous team in this league they just havent put it together most of the season. On to Yost to clinch that title.

First two goals for the Gophers were a gift but that non-call when Egge was boarded was brutal. Could have been a 5 minute major.

Doesn't matter what part of the body is checked, it's the results of the check that's judged. If contact is made that it propels you into the boards like that it's a penalty.



"42.1 Boarding - A player shall not body check, cross-check, elbow, charge or
trip an opponent from the front or side in such a manner that causes the
opponent to be thrown violently into the boards"

Straight from the NCAA rulebook.
