Well, you're half right.

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

NMU will now need to bring in another Goalie for 2018-19

Current NMU Goalies

Sr. Atte Tolvanen (6'0" 190lbs) - Vihti, Finland
So. Tyger Howat (6'3" 240lbs) - Brighton, MI

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

NMU Hockey going (25-15-3), finishing 2nd in the 2017-18 WCHA Regular season standings and advancing to and hosting the WCHA Conference Finals at home at The Berry was a big boost for the local NMU Hockey fan base.... The local fan support for NMU Hockey in 2018-19 should be very good....

NMU gets a couple of Defensemen transfers???? 2018-19 for Notre Dame Senior Tony Bretzman (5'11" 175lbs) - Mendota Heights, MN and 2019-20 for Union Junior Ben Newhouse (5'9" 165lbs) - Edina, MN....

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

NMU gets 2018-19 commitment from AJHL Spruce Grove Saints Goalie Nolan Kent (Chestermire, AB)... The (5'11" 190lb) Kent went (27-11-1) with a 2.16 GAA & 4 shutouts in 2016-17 and (27-5-0) with a 1.52 GAA and 4 shutouts in 2017-18 for the AJHL Saints.... Looks like a great addition for NMU this upcoming season after losing Israelsson....

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

Incoming NMU Hockey Freshman Forward Griffin Loughran (5'6" 150lbs) (Buffalo, NY) should add some scoring punch for NMU this year.... He had 25 Goals & 27 assists for 52 points this season leading the Fargo Force to the 2018 USHL Title???? He should be another good point scorer that NMU will have on the ice in 2018-19....

Mathias Israelsson has transferred to Minnesota State and he’ll be in the mix to compete for the starting job.

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

Well that certainly is a plot twist!

DavyD, any truth that "Bobby Rayne" is our new Senior transfer to offset Israelsson going to MSU-M? :D

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

So I just received my Northern Magazine in the mail yesterday, and had to tweet the excitement I saw in it:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">YES! YES!! <a href="https://twitter.com/NMUHockey?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@NMUHockey</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/NorthernMichU?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@NorthernMichU</a> This is a much needed and welcomed addition to the Berry! Can't wait to make a trip home to see! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ProudOfOurAlumni?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#ProudOfOurAlumni</a> <a href="https://t.co/QaJS9nDgUS">pic.twitter.com/QaJS9nDgUS</a></p>— Josh Pifke (@thejoshp) <a href="https://twitter.com/thejoshp/status/1011355958843502593?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 25, 2018</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

They're going to be celebrating the Alumni who played in the NHL inside the BEC. Something I've seen on a smaller scale in the locker room; but this is much welcomed, and in a more public setting. It's going to be great to see the photos of the (as of now) 21 alums who have played in the NHL (even Don Waddell's lone NHL game).

What a great thing to see the University finally do!

*edit* I do have a SLIGHT irk that jumped out at me from that article. The logos on Dallas Drake's banner. Yes, he played for the Winnipeg Jets, but he didn't play for *those* Winnipeg Jets. He was on the Jets/Coyotes franchise, not the Thrashers/Jets franchise. This is the logo that should be on it:

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

Nathan Oystrick named Humboldt Broncos head coach-GM
A Regina-born former NHL defenceman is the new coach and general manager of the Humboldt Broncos, the team that lost its coach and 15 others in the deadly bus crash in Saskatchewan in April.

Nathan Oystrick, 35, was introduced at a ceremony in Humboldt on Tuesday.

During his NHL career, Oystrick played for the Atlanta Thrashers, Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues.

"I understand how much the Broncos have always meant to the community of Humboldt, but I also understand what the team means to so many people across North America and globally," said Oystrick.

Rockwood is in Vancouver's Rookie Camp.
Roeder will be attending Blues camp.

Re: 2018-19 NMU Hockey Season

I'm surprised NMU Sr. Goalie Atte Tolvanen didn't get an invite anywhere this Summer.... He went to the Nashville Predators 2017 Developmental Camp last Summer....
