At my precinct, the stickers are at the table where you drop off your voter information sheet, and then feed your ballot into the machine. Thankfully, they don't force you to take one. I don't understand the appeal.

If you vote early in the day and wear your bling sticker you can get free or discounted food from places you wouldn't otherwise have an interest in eating their food. I think that's the appeal. Never wore it.

I don't understand the appeal [of those "I Voted" stickers].


For some people, it is a sign of civic pride, like all those Iraqis with purple fingertips back in 2005.

For many, it is a way to remind/encourage others to vote as well: "oh, yeah, I knew there was something I was supposed to do today...."


I like them, it reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting.
