2016 NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs

Re: 2016 NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs

I'm curious and just looking for a reasonable answer. I noticed that Marian is ranked behind Eau Claire in both polls (D3 and USCHO) despite having a better Win%, stronger SOS, and a head-to-head win against Eau Claire. Do these polls translate to the NCAA rankings in any way? It doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Nope ! NCAA uses the criteria to rank teams regionally and D3 and USCHO polls play no part of it !

I would think that Marian would still be ranked 4th in the West...maybe River Falls replaces Eau Claire @ #5..

Yes, I would think Marian would remain #4 or #5 in the west rankings for the rest of the season.

The old "once ranked, always ranked" when it comes to RNK scores went away a couple years ago, correct? SNC's RNK is very strong in the western region this year, especially if Marian and Buff State remain in the regional rankings.

Who cares about that, though. SNC doesn't angle for Pool C's and I'm really excited for Saturday night.
