2016 MN Boys Hockey Tourney- Let the Good Locks Flow

Where does the "national" part of this tournament begin and end because this looks like just another Minnesota State High School League game.

;) :p

It was fun. Though I still wonder if kids missing a whole lot of school to play in another tournament is worth it.

For the most part the combination on the pure (single school) was pretty even. The coop or combined side had some pretty epic mismatches including a 32-1 blowout.

Both finals went OT. On the combined side, JW Mitchell of FLA was down 0-3 after 1, up 7-4 after 2, and tied 7-7 at the end of regulation. They won on a PPG 2:58 into OT.

Poetic justice prevailed as the team that won 32-1 lost the finals.

For high school hockey, yes. They had been 15:00 back in the day, but then they were extended I forget how many years ago now.

Oh it gets better. Next year the 18U national championships will feature 20 minute periods and zam cuts after each period.

16U will continue to be 17 minute periods and
14U will continue to be 16 minute periods

I chatted with one of the Edina kids and his parents at Easter vigil on Saturday. Sounds like the final was a heck of a game. Roller coaster ride.
