2015 World Championship Thread

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

Eichel continues his great play in international tournaments by throwing the puck out front to the Russian player for the third goal.

after their first goal.. Russia seemed very energized.. & we.. we just fell asleep. They then turned it up a notch. Both goalies played very well.

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

Go Russia against Canada, as always

Canada has breezed through...might be different tomorrow, especially with crowd 90% for Russia. As for the US, they played hard. They just don't have the talent or experience to compete with these teams that are loaded with NHL stars. Not to be critical, but one thing I noticed is that the US would hesitate and try to always move closer when they need to pull the trigger quicker. But again, that's the point. At the level most of these players play at, they have more time. They didn't here. Hopefully this has pushed the program forward a step and will get "other" players to participate.

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

First of all... $6 on a VPN was well worth it. Second of all, I'm surprised the Russians didn't use their speed to draw holding calls and the like. The American team, likely down to personnel doesn't have enough polish to deal with the Russians in the offensive zone. The USA needed to get a lucky set of ricochets and it never happened. The Russians were certainly vulenerable and they were very stick heavy and physical in their defensive zone which limited the US.

It bothers me, or would bother me if I were the Russians that they've been reluctant to use their speed... but its also why the USA can't come back. Russia wins a speed game and so the US can't play it.

Blah. Let's hope the US converts on a Bronze model for once. Historically the USA has had an issue converting in a 3rd place game.

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

Will be very difficult for US to win bronze playing the Czechs in their home building. Typically we are down in these situations. Let's hope they pull it together for one last great effort...

Not sure if that's fair. Russia was better...by a lot. Quick...name the great USA NHL players on this roster. I'm waiting...

USA leads 3-0 after 2 in the semifinal game vs the Czech Republic

yeah... this team is full of guys that don't usually get the chance or have something to prove either due to that first thing or their age. Character team if you will.

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

A bronze (just the fourth medal since 1963) is a great result for this team, especially with the win coming over the host. Nice job, USA.

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

Russia is probably my second favorite international team, and Canada is probably my least favorite. I grew up idolizing the Russian Five, though, so I might be in the minority.
