2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!!

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Hello? Anyone else in here beside the crickets?

I wanted to enjoy the Indy car race, but didn't really. It seemed to be the same thing, but with more wings and more stuff broken. I really don't like the aero packages at all- they look goofy.

The F1 race- heck of a race for the entire Ferrari team- great stops, great package, great strategy, great driving. The actual race was ok. Not sure why Mercedes used the softer tires in qualifying, so that they didn't have any left for Hamilton at the end of the race- but that may not have mattered anyway.

Hard to see McLaren suffer like that, BUT- they did improve a lot relative to the field. And as slow as they are- all of the reports have both Button and Alonso happy- especially how nice the car drives. So I look forward to them speeding up over the year.

It was GREAT to see Toro Rosso beat the Red Bull team. Same engines, but one whining team vs. the underdogs. Perhaps Horner would accept some good Italian cheese to go with his whine.

Man, did Ganassi fall asleep this winter? I can understand the Honda teams lagging because Honda has generally been behind but for Penske to take 1, 2, 4 and 5 is a huge statement. I really LOVE Montoya winning and sticking it to Power w/about 10 laps to go. The only thing better would be if Montoya had knocked Power sideways or otherwise out of the race (as Power has done to so many others).

Sounds like Mercedes has also gotten a bit complacent. Did they really think they'd maintain a 1.5 second gap on the entire field? With the amount of $ and pride Ferrari has it was just a matter of time. It's just too bad that ***** Vettel drives for the prancing horse. I just can't cheer for him, he's far too arrogant for his own good.

Interesting article in ESPNCricinfo on the finances / marketing of F1 and how they could be exported to cricket (and perhaps other sports).

So there were both an Indy car and an F1 race this past weekend.

weren't there? ;)

Yeah, the F1 was a bit of a yawner as Mercedes was able to manage the tyres ok. The gap from Williams to Ferrari was shocking.

Indy....I can't recall a poorer excuse for a race. The lack of use of a local yellow was/is pathetic. I don't understand why they went to a timed race. They had plenty of TV schedule and daylight left and the track was drying. More rain was coming, but race up to that. The track itself seemed like a cool track.

Timothy- you must be pleased with Kimi's finish in Bahrain. Heck of a race for him, and maybe puts some more trust between him and the team (with the questions mid-race).

Hamilton and Mercedes looks great. Rosberg looks like his head is going to explode- pass Vettel twice, and then make a mistake when Raikkonen just starts to pressure you.

Great to see Alonso/McLaren/Honda keep progressing. Just out of the points, and not due to lack of finishers. He was quick all weekend. Too bad Button could not have the same car for him.

At the very back of the grid- Manor finished BOTH CARS!!! And should get their 2015 chassis when the series returns to Europe. I hope they continue to progress.

They say his brakes were failing. That's what they are saying...

I believe they finished both cars last race as well.

I heard that later. LOL- the brakes failed once- which just happened to be the exact same corner that Kimi started to really attack him.

ok....

I've missed the last few races- but I really want Manor to get their things going. I know they were part of a trio that really stunk up the back of the pack- but at least they were showing progress. If they can manage to get through this season, that would be a good thing. We'll see how Haas runs next season.

Very pleased indeed with Kimi and P/O'ed at Vettel for throwing away a podium with his issues, then he can't even pass Bottas as the end. It will be awesome when both Stallions have a clean weekend. It sure is fun to have an outside hope for pole and for a win.

I can't bring myself to be happy for McLaren, I still dislike them from the old Ferrari rivalry days of Hakkinen, then Alonso, then Hamilton.

Forgot to mention Bottas- comparing Vettel-Bottas to Raikkonen-Rosberg- Valteri handled the situation MUCH better- forced Seb to drive his tires off enough that the pass never could happen. Totally understand your position, but he did a great job keeping Vettel behind him.

Lots of good stuff happening on the track.

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Indycar was a decent race this last weekend. There were some good nose to tail battles, only 1 yellow that could have been a local. Too bad Power royally screwed up twice. I did throw up a little in my mouth when Dixon won. I bet Chip is thrilled he decided to go with Chevy this year.

I was a little shocked that the Chevy's performed so well with their wingeetes removed from the front wings, in a call by Indycar that was not entirely fair. They built the cars per the rules, then get forced to remove them.

I also read that Bottas used his ERS in just the right moments to negate Vettel's use of the DRS.

Bottas drove brilliantly, literally, to hold off Vettel. When his back is healthy and if he had a Mercedes or Ferrari, he could be a champion.

The Ferrari's DRS didn't seem to be very effective. I wonder if the car had more down force?

No Monza?! Impossible!!

It's all about the money isn't it, Bernie?

Ecclestone denied it was 'unthinkable' to allow F1 to lose so many classic races, including Italy.

He said: "I'll tell you something... I was told that when we didn't have a race in France. And Germany. Now, we've got some good replacements, haven't we?"

NO WE DON'T HAVE GOOD REPLACEMENTS, NUMB NUTS. He is truly a worthless duchebag.

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

The organizers and Ecclestone need to persevere and reach agreements. It's truly sad to lose three traditional races. I am sure there are some significant issues, but please, just don't throw up your arms and walk away. This is a travesty in my opinion.

Great job by Josef Newgarden yesterday! This kid is the real deal and it makes me wonder how long guys like Marco and graham will be given to stand on their 2 and 1 wins, respectively. I think all of Newgarden, daly and Karan are significantly better than the 2 legacy kids

I remember when both Grahm and Marco were hinted at an F1 ride. Ah, memories. Then again, they have shown that they are pretty much as fast as the bad F1 drivers are.

That was a great race yesterday for a racing fan to watch, though a forgettable race for a Penske fan to watch.

I think Graham has real talent, Marco just has a name.
