2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

GB Puck Fan

It's A Great Day For Hockey
Congats to Adrian on the Peters Cup.

SNC gets the #2 seed and will host Lawrence next week.

Not sure of the pairings, otherwise

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

Adrian hosts CUW
SNC hosts Lawrence
Lake is #3

MSOE, CSS and Marian have yet to decide their seedings among themselves.

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

CUW, Finlandia and Northland all finished with 8 points. FU and CUW both have 4 conference wins, Northland has 3 with 2 ties. CUW swept both FU and Northland. If I'm following correctly, that gives CUW the tiebreaker, correct?

That makes sense to me. But SNC is in a football conference that uses quarters led as a primary tiebreaker if three teams tie so I never assume something makes sense

That's as reasonable as using SOG as a tiebreaker if a game ends tied after OT.

At least a shoot out decides the game on the ice between those teams playing each other. The quarters led means that how you did in the first quarter against the last place team two months ago could decide if you go to NCAA tourney or not.

Sounds right. Got this from NCHA website:

TIE-BREAK PROCEDURE
If two or more teams are tied in points at the end of the regular season, ties shall be broken as follows:
1 - Head-to-Head competition
2 - Goal differential in games played between the tied teams only
3 - Goal differential in all NCHA games

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

Okay, everything is in, with the exception of the MSOE-CUW game, which is irrelevant for seeding purposes. Therefore, here is what we're looking at:

8) CUW at 1) Adrian
7) Lawrence at 2) SNC
6) St. Scholastica at 3) Lake Forest
5) Marian at 4) MSOE

Do you see any upsets in the quarters?

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

Yeah, I'm looking at that one, too. But CSS has been Jeckyl and Hyde this season, as well. They got swept at Lake Forest in early December, split in Finlandia, and they're 1-4-1 in their last six, with a loss and a tie with Northland in there. At the same time, I don't think I want to see them in Arrington in two weeks, either.

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

I expect the chalk to hold for the first two seeds, but either of LFC-CSS and MSOE-Marian could go either way. Both MSOE and Marian are on nice runs to finish the season, too.

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

Marion MSOE split their games this weekend according to NCHA site. But absolutely NO info on a mini game. Who won??

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

MSOE won their mini-game in OT.

Adrian, SNC and MSOE have all held serve and advanced.

St. Scholastica defeated Lake Forest 2-1 this evening, and will settle their series tomorrow evening.

The semi-finals will either be:
MSOE at Adrian and LFC at SNC or
CSS at Adrian and MSOE at SNC

Thanks for the info. I was finally able to find that as well. So far, the surprise of the weekend in my mind is that Adrian allowed 4 goals by the lowest ranked team. I know nothing of the tempo of the game though, nor who tended goal. Anyone else?

Re: 2015 NCHA Playoffs... the road to Adrian

That game was 7-2 in the 2nd period, one of which went off of Shackell's skates from behind the net. The other two goals were simply window dressing.
