2015 Hobey Top-Ten

Re: 2015 Hobey Top-Ten

Can anyone explain to me why McIntyre is getting a nomination over other goaltenders like Hayton and Lyon? Does playing in Grand Forks give him some kind of qualification I'm not aware of?

It is impossible to explain. McIntyre is only a top 50 goalie at best, and just because he has a lot of wins doesn't matter because of who he is playing for...just look at how good his backup was! Unbelievable that such an abysmal example of human trash ever got nominated for this award!!!

:p:D:D

Re: 2015 Hobey Top-Ten

He got votes as both Zane McIntyre and Zane Gothberg. That put him over the top.

Re: 2015 Hobey Top-Ten

Just some stats about how the Hobey Baker winner's team did in the NCAA Tournament:

Out of 34 total Hobey Baker Winners:
National Champion: 5 (Matt Gilroy - BU (2009); Jordan Leopold - MN (2002); Paul Kariya - Maine (1993); Lane MacDonald - Harvard (1989); Tony Hrkac - UND (1987))
National Runner-up: 7 (Blake Geoffrion - UW (2010); Mike Mottau - BC (2000); Jason Krog - UNH (1999); Scott Fusco - Harvard (1986); Tom Kurvers - UMD (1984); Mark Fusco - Harvard (1983); Neal Broten - MN (1981))
National Semifinalist: 10 (Johnny Gaudreau - BC (2014); Drew LeBlanc - SCSU (2013); Kevin Porter - UM (2008); Ryan Duncan - UND (2007); Marty Sertich - CC (2005); Junior Lessard - UMD (2004); Ryan Miller - MSU (2001); Brendan Morrison - UM (1997); Robb Stauber - MN (1988); Bill Watson - UMD (1985))
Regional Finalist: 7 (Jack Connolly - UMD (2012); Peter Sejna - CC (2003); Chris Drury - BU (1998); Brian Bonin - MN (1996); Scott Pellerin - Maine (1992); Kip Miller - MSU (1990); George McPhee - BGSU (1982)
Regional Semifinalist: 2 (Andy Miele - Miami (2011); David Emma - BC (1991))
Missed NCAA Tournament: 3 (Matt Carle - DU (2006); Brian Holzinger - BGSU (1995); Chris Marinucci - UMD (1994))

It is interesting that nearly 65% of Hobey Baker winners (22/34) helped their squad advance to the Frozen Four, yet only about 15% (5/34) helped their squad win the National Championship. Also, of the 5 that led their squad to National Championships, 4 did so with either an epic comeback, overtime, or both.
