2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.

Re: 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.

Play by play in the Ab - On game.

Anyone watch the first period in that one? Comments?

I watched periods 1-2 and there were very few chances generated by either team. A lot of neutral zone play and not a lot of flow to the game. On another note, I notice that the top scorer for the event is a 2000 birth player from NL? Has anyone seen her play? Quite impressive!

Other than the goaltending which appears to be about even Ontario is clearly the superior team with a distinct advantage in skating skill and speed. Quebec's defence seem slow moving and slow to make decisions and then to execute yet they (the entire team) are stifling Ontario's offence...blocking lots of shots...same script as the other day when these two teams met. Saw the old UND defence there a couple times...whatever works I guess.

I believe Cheryl Pounder said there are 36,300 girls registered in Ontario playing hockey and 6,300 in Quebec! Surprised at such a huge difference.

That is very surprising. Just Googled, and Ontario has just 67% more population than Quebec but, according to Cheryl Pounder, has a whopping 476% more female registered hockey players. I guess in the U.S. we assume that hockey is pretty much equally popular all across Canada, once you allow for the obvious differences in population density.

it is a bit befuddling, especially with the history of great players such as Rheaume, Daoust, Ouellette, Poulin, Brisson...the Montreal Stars..McGill with its tradition. you look at the top 20-U teams in Canada and currently 3 of the top 10 are from Quebec (including #1 Limoilou). they don't churn out many, but the ones they do...wow!

I think we do, too.

Very entertaining and exciting OT game with Quebec pulling the exact same rabbit out of the hat that they did against Ontario in their first game a couple days earlier. Amazing that they were able to hold off Ontario's offence with their defence, in a number of instances, standing and watching Ontario work the puck in their (Quebec's) end.

Quebec's huge goaltender was also huge in this win. Fairly quick and appeared to have good technicals as well.

Interesting to watch some of these players who will be playing at Clarkson, OSU and Cornell, among others schools, this coming season.

Anyone else have any comments on the game? Did anyone else even watch it?
