I think the key is getting Weiss fully healthy, especially since Holland also said they don't plan to use their remaining compliance buyout on Franzen, because that tells me they plan to use it on Weiss if they can't shop him. That, plus letting Sammi, Cleary, and Quincey walk would free up about $13.5 mil. Some of that will have to go into re-upping Tatar, Sheahan, and DK, but they should still be left with over $8-9 mil for other needs. Kenny will also need to save money for Nyquist's fat raise very soon.

EDIT: Forgot DK is also RFA, and that Quincey is due to come off the books (he'd better :mad:)

How is it the Wings are again approaching Cap Hell? They need to just move Franzen and Weiss for peanuts. ...Actually... Weiss and/or Franzen to the Blues for Cole or Jackman or Polak?

I doubt the Blues would take Detroit's chaff, their fans would probably riot.

It looks pretty clear to me that the correct call was made. There's a fraction of second where it's not clear where the puck is, but after that it emerges next to Stalock's skate.

edit: I'm leaving out the issue of whether it was legal to get the puck across the line by pushing Stalock...that I'm not sure of.

It's not. Otherwise we'd all be pushing goalies into the net nightly.

Well, the reason I'm not so sure about this particular situation is that Stalock wasn't pushed into the net, he was just pushed toward the net.

It's funny. If the Flyers had rolled with Mason - yes, that Mason, who threwback to his rookie season and won 33 games with four shutouts in 61 regular season contests - instead of trying to draw on Grandpa Emery's "big game choker" experience, this series might actually be over.

I normally wouldn't cheer for the Flyers, but I can't in good conscience cheer for that little weasel Martin St. Louis. I don't want his crying to be validated.
